This morning it was difficult to wake after driving home from Nashvegas and The Players
at third and lindsley. I was charged by their
performance. Absolutely the best "players" this ole boy has ever seen close up or from
a distance. Thanks again to Theresa for the info on the gig. If you were there I was the
big goofy wan-a-be steel picker sitting on the side about 5ft from Paul Franklin with the look of amazement on my face.Paul Franklin. So tasteful and never over bearing.His playing prowess was only overshadowed by his humble, genuine nice guy attitude. I especially enjoyed his bar juggling on the last song. All the players were very accessible and appreciative. Thanks to them for an evening I won't soon forget.

Chuck,
I was sitting somewhere behind you, with the talented table of Theresa and Gregg, their neighbor - Stacey (I hope I remembered that right!), Randy Beavers, and Tommy Dodd.
These guys are the best, and Paul amazes me everytime I get to hear him. I'm glad you enjoyed it so much, and I am feeling the effects of a late night as well!
You hit it on the head, about Paul's kindness and humility. He is a giant among people, not just musicians.

The bar juggling was after 2 sets of bar magic
and considering his obvious light bar touch he
dropped it and it fell to the floor. He quickly retrived it and began to smoke his c6th neck as to say oops let me make this right. I didn't get to see in your rack so Mr.
Franklin if you read this please post your rig and thank you. Your tone was sweet. |

| It's really not possible to describe just how great these guys are. You just have to experience it to get the full effect. How can you describe a true work of art to someone who hasn't seen it? However, I can say I had a big helping of "humble pie" last night, and it was great! |

Chuck,
I love gear, and I always peer into Paul's rack (and Paul, please correct me if I mislead anyone), but here it goes...
Clean steel sound is through a Stereo Steel Pre-amp/Power amp combo.
Overdriven sounds are through a switchbox to a POD 2.0.
The other items in his rack (not sure of the interconnections) are a Line 6 Modulation Modeler, Line 6 Delay Modeler, Digitech IPS-33 (hope I got that right) that he uses to enhance harmonic notes, and a Lexicon PCM-90 I believe.
His cabinets are Marrs, and I forget if they are 12" or 15"...
Randy, in a similar comment - I read a quote from an audio engineer that said, "Talking about music is like singing about football." The Players, and Paul at that level is something that just has to be experienced.
I'm starting to feel more awake...

Your welcome! I'm sorry we didn't get to meet.
Gregg, Stacey, David, Randy, Tommy and I sat at the big round table.
It's always exciting watching the crowd, especially when Paul drops his bar!
