Hey Bud, Can you tell me the names of the singles recorded by George Strait in the mid 90's that you played on? I'm tring to educate some of the current powers to be in this town.Heck they are lucky to know who Elvis was. Jack Solomon

I'm not Buddy by any means but I know Buddy played on the Pure Country album. Also that's Buddy on the song So Much Like My Dad.

There was a song on "Strait Out Of The Box" released in 1995 called "I'd Like To Have That One Back" that has 6 of the prettiest notes ever to be heard as a fill after the 1st line of the 2nd verse of that song. While most any steel player could play those notes, I challenge anyone to do it with that much feeling. It has to be Buddy.

Jack,
Long time no see. I sure miss that rhythm.

I checked the internet and found three albums I recorded with George: Holding My Own, Pure Country, and Lead On. Some of the songs were So Much Like My Dad, I Cross My Heart, When Did You Stop Loving Me, The King Of Broken Hearts, You’re Right I’m Wrong, Thoughts Of A Fool, Lead On, Here We Go Again, and Adalida.

Thanks for the compliment Jim, but the title doesn’t ring a bell.

Considering who played the original steel part, I'm not surprised.

Buddy, Thanks for the compliment. I sure miss playing with you. Have you retired from session work ? Would consider doing some if it was a good project?

Jack,
I don’t have the shingle hanging out for sessions on a regular basis but I still enjoy working with old friends. What you call a good project is what I would call a good project and I’d be happy to be a part of it.

And Bill Moran… you took the words right out of my mouth, only my cuss words were worse than yours.

After reading your post I went to Napster and I'm listening to those George Strait sessions you mentioned right now.
That is the sound that I try to
copy more than any other style.
I hope you keep on giving us your
great talent.

Buddy; would you consider doing a couple of videos similar to Jay Dee's? Say one on the E9 and one on the C6? I would love to have that format and I would think many forumites would also. I'm sure you get approached all the time with ideas from well meaning fans like me, but I'm sure this would make a lot of us happy. Shoot, I'd even beg, I don't care, what the heck.

Wow---could you imagine the interest in any "new" instuctional stuff from THE Big E---sign me up NOW!!

It would be great having Buddy show his "licks & tricks"---certainly on E9 but his C6 playing as well.

Wonderful stuff with George S, too! Thanks Buddy!

I think Holding My Own was a great album that got overshadowed by the release of the Pure Country soundtrack. Adalida is one of those songs that moves me along as I work.

Did you check Tab from Buddy? The solo from "Adalida" is there...

(I agree an instruction video, ala Jay Dee would be great! And I still think a tone course would be a good-un, too. Nobody has tone like you do.)

Buddy:

I never could play Adalida like you but it sure gave me a workout. I just thank you for the challenge.
