Thanks Joey,
There are still hundreds of both issues #1 and #2 available.
Craig V. I am going to send your refund with the monies from the next two single issue orders.
Fred M. I will send you a copy of the book- again. I wish you would have let me know you didn't get your book, rather than wait for a time to complain publicly. I have several thousand copies of the book left. All too many times problems could be avoided with a simple telephone call.

I still think that Terry should have considered a paperless distribution via "pdf" files. The printing costs then become zero. Somebody pays for an issue, he sends them the pdf file. They can look at it on their computer. If they want to print out one page or the complete magazine, they can, at no expense to the publisher. That brings money investment down to practically nothing and the publisher is mainly in it for their time.

I own and play two non-pedal steels.
fred....Fred so how can you play all those changes without pedals? Explain that.
Hey Larry Beck I ran out of Omaha Steaks wha
hoppen baby When Kenny Foy told me the story regarding Terry's problems I knew all along Terry meant well,If Terry is a friend of Kenny Foy he's a friend of mine as well.
Good luck Terry..life is too short to let these things bother you, take care of yourself and your family.
[This message was edited by Jody Carver on 23 February 2005 at 07:17 PM.]

I don't know a lot about Terry, but I'm willing to give him the benefit of the doubt. Losing 50 bucks certainly won't ruin me. Still, this saga sounds like it was stolen from the screenplay of Million Dollar Baby: first half is adrenalin-charged root for the underdog bravado; second half is despondent, tear-jerking sympathy ploy. While the movie was certainly well-acted, I didn't think it had a whole lot of continuity. I don't think this does, either. I guess some people really can be fooled a lot of the time.

Until proven wrong, I'll agree with Ken's assumption of the situation. In Extended Family someone suggested getting the local news media involved. I suggested getting an attorney who handles liability cases. These two suggestions would go much farther than another forum sitcom. While the movie was certainly well-acted, I didn't think it had a whole lot of continuity. I am a very patient man and nonjudmental for the most part. I am not challenging the veracity of Terry's story but still hold him accountable..even if it takes years to supply the goods or refund. For the past 35yrs. i have been a socialworker/therapist. I have heard tons of stories like his on a regular basis..working with individuals and families in crisis. In a town as large as Nashville I would suspect that there are many family services e.g. counseling, advocacy, medical care, etc. that would be available on a sliding scale or no fee basis. Some folks often have too much pride to ask for help, or a "mistrust of the system" and consequently continue to go through neverending struggles with no resolution. WE ALL NEED HELP AT TIMES!! Get up off the mat, dust yourself off and get some help for yourself and family. I look forward to the magazine sometime in my lifetime.

I don't know Terry, and I'm sure his situation is tragic and legit.
However, it is interesting to note the similarities between this and the dobroscam case. In that case a guy named Matt Roe, who turned out to be a guy named Ray Boze, also produced a dobro magazine which people paid a year in advance for. When the magazine didn't arrive, he claimed a series of unfortunate events: his wife had suffered a stroke and died, as had his father. On top of that he was in a major car accident which had laid him up. All of these things were used as an excuse of why the magazine (and a bunch of other stuff including about $100k worth of guitars) were never delivered.
Of course all of it turned out to be bunk - and he is now in hidding from the police.
At the time, people were very sympathetic to Matt/Ray, which allowed him to run his scam longer.
It is unfortunate I think for Terry that his story is so similar. The Matt/Ray situation made many of us who play dobro pretty jaded.

You are welcome Craig.
I want to thank anyone for their prayers and wishes. I also want to give thanks to God for seeing us through another day. We are no longer breathing the source of the spores, but I have had to go back to the unit a few more times. My family is still having trouble with health over those BLACK and GREENISH BLACK MOLD spores growing in the unit. I have several dozen pictures, and below are four. This should give you an idea of what it is we have been living in. As for an attorney , I am concerned foremost with my family and their welfare. If one comes knocking, good for us. (They charge for that occupation here in Nashville, and it's like trying to find a steel guitar player in the sticks, and having to settle for an accordian player. The don't have the same affect when it counts the most.) I believe when it is the right time the news media will find out about our situation. I was contacted by a motion picture company yesterday in CA. I think we need someone locally, that knows someone else locally, to inform them of the scoop. I am too busy at present trying to find the next... well you must know.
Here is the laundry vent (freshly patched) that passes directly under the headboard of our bed (located exactly where the patch in the dryer vent exhaust pipe is):
Here is the carpet flooring above the leak and over a bit nearer the wall HVAC unit in our apartment unit, right where the ductwork exits the outside of the building:
Here is the vent that takes in the ??fresh??? air in our bedroom window (about two feet from our dryer vent exhaust), also located directly above the carpet mold on the floor by our bed:
If we want any air to keep the heat off our room, we were using a fan offered by the hotel to put into the window in our sons bedroom. We could then draw the natural gas fumes off of the soffit ventilation, mixed with the BLACK MOLD growing in the wall where the roof was leaking. I complained about it numerous times, but the management and the maintenence man thought repeatedly that it was the HVAC leaking. Oh Well, now the BLACK MOLD has been there for some time, and we have been drinking it with the laundry chemicals all night:
It still has us hoping we all heal, and not continue feeling as we have for a long while. I pray God has mercy on the world. Thanks again everyone for your prayers. They are keeping us alive, literally.
Sincerely,
Terry Wendt

Hello Dr. Jeffries,
My dear blessed friend Al Vescovo tells me great things about you. I also have listened to your CD and appreciate the playing to no avail. (I don't personally write reviews for our magazine - due to ethics, or very well would have reviewed your CD) I am at a loss for what I might say except that I was very uncertain as to what you could do to help us when I received your email, some time ago, as you have mentioned in your forum posting. At present, I am becoming a professionally versed mold remediator. Nobody wants to help with the mold removal process. I am the "clorox king", as I am the one who has to spend hours daily cleaning our things, and then cleaning our vehicle again. (The only way to kill the types of toxic molds we have inherited from the Studio Plus, Elm Hill Pike, here in Nashville, TN, is to wet each possible area for a spore to hang on with 1/10 Clorox Ultra Bleach vs water, and it needs to remain wet for 10+ minutes, or longer!) You might understand why no one wants to "come and clean computers inside out, etc.. Not trying to be facicious, but I really didn't know what you might be inferring to help with, and other than that, I didn't mean any harm by not replying to your earlier email, some months ago. My family and myself have been in that previous invironment (mold infested), without knowing how, or why, we all kept staying sick, the entire time we lived there (950 days), and had actually moved in with the intention of being there for less than a matter of months. If you want to come to TN and give us a hand, that would be greatly appreciated. If you care to offer up a few prayers, that would be terrific also. Lastly, nothing you, or anyone does goes unnoticed to the God of all that I pray to, and I most certainly mean that, and am forever greatful for anything, anyone, can help with. Please contact me at your leisure, as I am hard pressed these days to keep the cooking fire at home warm. My wife and daughter are doing better, but have endured greatly pains undeserving (in my own opinion). I pray for them constantly, as I work to clean our things that were contaminated. Dr. please let me know if you know anything about this mold, as I have read literally hundreds and hundreds of pages on the Internet that my wife and I have found (from the EPA, CDC, Toxic Mold site, .gov sites, and the like) in the hopes that I might find some hope in this unbelievable situation. We are struggling both physically, emotionally, and also financially. Prayers will help, that's why I posted in the Extended Family section. What's a minute or two of breath out of someones mouth and mind? Again, I apologize if any harm was done by my not replying to your much earlier email, but, again, thank you for your offer, and God Bless you and yours.
Very Sincerely,
Terry Wendt

Here is a sampling of the mold in the air and in our HVAC Unit. Doesn't look very healthy to be breathing, does it? I hope some of you will take this more seriously, if you can. I am praying non stop for my family to heal. We are all getting better slowly, but hopefully surely.
Sincerely,
Terry Wendt
