Steel Player trying to get Artist Vocal Deal

Post by W. C. Edgar »

If you all like good traditional Country Music please check out my website at www.wcedgar.com I have played steel for many big country acts over the years and now am trying for my own deal and Management. Heck, my buddy Daryle Singletary lent his vocal talents on the last line of one ballad on my promo cd. I write all my own stuff and have had my promo cd downloaded between 19,000 and 20,000 times at www.download.com/wcedgar just since June. I'm country country and almost refuse to walk on stage without both Fiddle and Steel. I've got nine more songs ready to go with those three to complete the cd for release perhaps by mid summer. So come on by and take ya a listen. Thanks, WC Edgar
[This message was edited by W. C. Edgar on 28 February 2005 at 10:01 PM.]

Being an ardent Dale Watson fan, I, along with my oldest son, was privileged to catch the 2004 State Fair of Texas show. On that stage was a youngster that just blew our hats in the creek when he took his first steel lead ride. I don't even remember the song, but I'll never forget the blonde long haired cat that played it. It was W.C. Edgar.

When he was introduced I recognized the name of a fellow that I had conversed with, via e-mail, some time back, but the many computer crashes had obliterated his address. He had sent me a couple of clips of his music and I still remember them as "country--real country". I just finished downloading these 3 songs and you can believe he hasn't lost a thing. He's still "real country'.

I can remember my son saying, "too bad, but I think the steeler is 30 years too late." And my thoughts were, "---or maybe 10 years too early." I'm still the eternal optimist, I just believe that "real country music" is too damned good to wallow in the gutter or continue to be put down as "crying in your beer" style of singing and playing. With folks like WC it'll survive and rise again. I hear the sounds of Lefty, Merle, and Buck in WC's voice and playing, but his style is really unique in his ability to capture the best of all three.

WC put me down for a copy of that new CD, and don't lose touch again. I still say you're a killer player and singer. That from a cat whose heard a hell of a lot of 'em. "Vegas", and "Mirrors" are just typical songs of those that'll bring "country music" back to the front. I'm kinda' glad you chose to come off tour and write these beautiful country songs. WC.. what the hell are you trying to do .. put the rest of us out of business ??
If that is you playing steel along with those great vocals,us normal steel players are finished!!..In any case, you are too talented to be a side man...I really hope that before long,it will be YOUR time!..

I have the feeling that when you are on stage behind the vocal mike fronting the band, that your steel player plays a major role in your sound.. I wish you all the best!! You are VERY talented!!! bob

I enjoyed it very much. Great!! to hear real country. Now, if only you could market it in China With a population exceeding
1,300,000,000 people you could do very well. Image

Wow, thanks to ya'all from the bottom of my country heart. Gene, hold on to that great GFI Guitar because that was Mike Johnson on those cuts and he'll be on the rest of the cd also and we have some real barn burners as well as some ballads that will rip your guts out so hold on. Fred, love ya man! What I really need at this point is good country folks like yourself that see the glass half full instead of half empty. Hal, next time ya see Marty Haggard tell him I said hey even tho he still owes me back wages from 1994 Ha! I spent more than a year touring this great country and Canada with him and the only thing that kept me sane was our guitar player and my dear friend Keith Gattis. Keith picks now with a guy named Dwight Yokam. The Dale Watson fill in job at the State Fair of Texas was a hoot and in all my travels I've NEVER worked with a better human being than the Great Dale Watson. Take care ya'all and we'll save real music as we know it yet. WC PS, anyone can email me here at home at steelwc@earthlink.net
[This message was edited by W. C. Edgar on 01 March 2005 at 08:50 AM.]

W.C., another nod for some great music. It's nice to hear a great country baritone, and man, you've got one. And a rippin' steel player also, too much. You're right, the glass is half-full, there's still plenty of great music out there. We just gotta convince people that it's worth marketing to somebody besides teenyboppers. I really do think things will turn, hopefully doesn't take 10 years, Fred. Definitely not 30 years too late, we need you now.

Can't wait till the 31st of March. Finally got in touch with my friend Tracy Lawrence and he won't be able to come in and sing a line on my cd the way my buddy Daryle Singletary did because of problems with his label. Joe Diffee had wanted him for the same thing and because of the label he was unable to sing on Joe's CD also. There is a chance I can still get my friend Ken Mellons to stop by and do a Cameo on the cd. Ken and I were both on the Country Music USA Show at Opryland in Nashville in 1989. I'll know more later.
