arlo guthries steel player?

arlo guthrie played st. louis last nite and the local news did a quick shot of the group. there was a steel player, keyboard and arlo on guitar. does anyone know who this might be on steel? he was quite up in the mix. bruce

According to several sources, Arlo's touring with Gordon Titcomb on pedal steel, mandolin, and guitar; and Arlo's son Abe on keyboards. They referenced shows in Missouri and Illinois.

Bruce, yes it is Gordon...they came by the Scotty's yesterday in the tour bus and Gordon bought a sweet vintage Sho~Bud pac-a-seat and took some pictures of me, DeWitt Jr. & Gordon, Scotty and Mike are both in Dallas/Fort Worth at the Texas Show.
He's a great guy and is also featured in the new Peavey ad. He's also got a new CD coming out soon.

There was an interesting article in the Los Angeles Times recently about the Jewish songs that Woody Guthrie wrote which were apparently never performed or recorded. His daughter discovered the songs several years ago and put together this project with the New York band The Klezmatics:

I've been working with Arlo for the last 3+ years playing steel, as well as a bit of mandolin & banjo.
He's a great guy, and the music is really fun to play.

Hello Torrington from your neighbor down the road in Canton, CT! I saw Arlo Guthrie last April at the wonderful Warner Theater in Torrington, CT and really enjoyed the show, particularly the gentleman playing a variety of instruments: mandolin, banjo, steel, etc. For the longest time I had been interested in learning steel, and this show is what galvanized me into action. Not long after I bought a Carter Starter and a Peavey NV 112 from the good folks at Downtown Sounds in Northampton, MA, and began taking lessons from Doug Beaumier there. So I want to say "thanks" to Mr. Titcomb for inspiring me to actually get started.

I saw arlo last year in Green Bay,Wi.
My girl friend bought tickets for us.
At the time I was not a big fan. I
only liked a few of his big songs from
the 60s.So to my surprize we sat in the belcony, I looked down and there was a
pedal steel guitar.( yes! I've gone to
heaven ). Let me tell you it was one of
best concerts I've ever been to.
Great steel player.Arlo is a great story teller. What a show.

Hi Gordon!

Last time I sat down with you I was 9 years old and just starting out on guitar, do you remember?!? Both Julie and yourself set the spark that has kept music so deeply intwined in my life~ I owe you both many many thanks....

A friend of mine caught an Arlo show a few months back and asked me if I knew who was on steel, I had no idea. So when I opened this thread I was surprised to see your name come up and even more surprised to see a reply!

This is also the thread which has gotten me out of "lurker" mode and actually posting on the forum! Mike in Canton~ Doug is a great guy, I do sound for one of his bands a couple times a year and he's always taken the time to talk shop, offer advice, etc etc (everything short of an actual lesson)....

Well, the world is that much smaller for me today. Y'all take care!!!

Hey Mike...Great to see you here!
The truth of the matter is pretty simple... ALL of us were inspired by other people during our journey...so while I thank you for your acknowledgement, I am also reminded to be thankfull for all of the folks that inspired, and continue to inspire me.
It's kind of like that movie that was out a while ago called: Pay It Forward.
We all pass it along to others and the steel playing community grows!!
