Hi Tony,
Thank you for your kindness.
The first few sessions with Ray were recorded mono, using only an Alesis Quadraverb direct to the console adding just a bit of a chorus and delay. The remainder of the sessions were with a Webb Starburst amp equipped with one 12" speaker.
I think the difference in tones is very audible on the CD. I of course liked the sound of the amp much better than the sterile synthetics direct recording produces on the pedal steel.
My best,
TW

Tommy, I love your playing on Joe Nichols' two albums, particularly your blazing solo on "You Can't Break The Fall". If you have time, could you recall what your setups for those sessions were? Once again, I'm really glad you played on those albums!

Hi Chris,
Thank you. I used a Derby steel guitar and Webb Starburst 112 on Joe's first CD. On the second CD I used a Carter and Fessenden with the same Webb Starburst amp.

Thanks so much for the info, Tommy! You sound killer on both albums. Please, please, please play on Joe's next one, whenever he starts recording again! Image

Tony, you can hear Tommy ripping it up on Joe's two albums. The first is titled Man with a Memory, and the second is titled Revelation. They're both superb albums, full of fiddle and steel.
