Mississipi Musicians H.O.F.----Lloyd Green

Post by Eddie D.Bollinger »

Today on Peaveys Website I read about the
Mississippi Musicians Hall of Fame. I
remembered that Lloyd Green was born in Leaf, MS.
www.peavey.com
I submitted Mr. Green's name to Dr. Jim
Brewer who heads this organization. I gave
him the link to Lloyd's tribute site.
If you wish to do so, go to:

www.msmusic.org

use the Contact Us window and put a word in for "THE MAN"

Eddie,

According to his own biographic information, Lloyd was born in Mobile, Alabama on October 4, 1937.

But nevertheless, thanks for your efforts and letting us know about the interesting link!

Kind Regards, Walter

I got the information from Scotty's.

The Hall of Fame plaque says "Leaf, MS"
Was this an error or geographical opinion?

If Lloyd says he is from Alabama, I believe him.

If his HOF Plaque is different than his Birth Certificate, he'll have to change one of them.

hmmmmm..., one's paper, one's bronze.....

Just in...
Here's the word from the man himself:

<BLOCKQUOTE><font size="1" face="Verdana, Arial, Helvetica">quote:</font><HR><SMALL>

"Every single word on my "Hall of Fame" plaque is correct, the number of sessions included. In the instance of my place of birth it was Leaf, Mississippi on October 4, 1937.

My family moved to Mobile, Alabama when I was 4 years of age because, like thousands of other folks, my father was working at Brookley Air Force Base in Mobile helping America fight against the Axis powers, Germany, Italy and Japan during World War 2.

I grew up in Mobile and we never returned to Mississippi to live. This may account for the discrepancy between my bio and the "Plaque". In any event it's my fault an obvious difference exists. I don't believe in exaggerating nor embellishing my life. I'm quite content with the facts."

Thanks Lloyd.

musicians hall of fame anywhere--its
Lloyd Green.

Eddie,
I followed your lead and I also sent an email to the MSHOF recommending they consider inducting Lloyd into their HOF. I can't think of a more worthy candidate than Lloyd! His mark on music is unmeasurable. I hope they put him in, and soon!

One of the criteria for being inducted is that the nominee must"have been born and lived a large part of his or her life in Mississippi." Lloyd moved to Alabama at the age of 4. However, he went to USM in Hattiesburg for 4 years. That is at least 8 years, but not a large part of his life, percentage-wise. That sure qualifies him from my standpoint, but I'm not sure it would from theirs. Maybe if we worry them enough, they would see fit to honor this "ICON" of American Music! He has certainly "done us proud"!
