Has anyone out there ever figured out the intro to this classic hit ?
It sure would surprise a lot of people to come out with it for a warm up excersize

| I guess you mean has anyone done it on the pedal steel??.. Never really thought of trying it.Probably wouldn't be too difficult. Its a piece of cake on 6 string guitar,and I still play and sing that one with my band. The crowds NEVER get tired of it... bob |

Yea, Joe Wright did it last year at the Texas show, on stage, it sounded exactly like the original!! Of course Joe is a little better than I am..well maybe more than a little!! 
I'd like to learn it myself, I just haven't got to it on that loooong list yet!! |

I saw Joe Wright perform it at the Arizona show last weekend. He went 10th fret, 8th fret, 3rd fret on the intro. Made it look real easy.
But then, Joe makes everything look real easy. |

It's easy or hard depending on whether or not you want the open strings to ring. If you play it in E, it's really easy, you just need the B pedal and maybe an extended tuning for a low A. Playing it in G with the open strings ringing like on regular guitar would take some extra work, but if you've got the right pedal changes, shouldn't be too hard.

John, Funny you should ask. Just yesterday I thought I should try and figure out this very tune. It is in the key of D and the chord progession is D-C-G . It starts out with arpetiating (spellling ?) chords and then goes into :
"D" bass, bass, strum.
"C" bass, bass, strum.
"G" bass, bass, strum.
That is the best I can describe it. I guess I should learn to post tab. |
