Steve, yet another topic that is not about "Me" though I and my publicist appreciate your constant redirection :{..
I've recently read Hunter S Thompson's "Kingdom of Fear" "Songs of the Doomed", and "Screwjack". Just finished Will Durant's "Our Oriental Heritage", and am re-reading Carlos Casteneda's 'Tales of Power' I found under a drawer. Most of it is nightstand reading stuff to put me to sleep. Durant was good for about three months of somnambulistic aid.
My wife's a Sci Fi, and Stephen King fan, but I don't do a lot of reading either one.
I don't write as much as I read that's for sure.

Well during the past 10 years I had been building and selling plastic model cars, yes the 1/25th and 1/24th scale kits. Corvettes, and 60's muscle cars. I have sold many ( USA and Overseas) . Although I still have a rather large collection of unbuilt kits , many are in the FOR SALE catagory..
But ..my eyes were giving me grief, so like Jeff and Joe..it's back to Model Railroading..
Although I never really gave up this interest, I just put it on hold for about 35 years..
New Haven and PRR Electrics in HO scale are my passion being from the NE. . I have recently acquired 3 PRR GG-1's from the late 50's..one is basically brand new, never been run. What a step back in time these beauties are...
No operating layout, but I am thinking about it ..at the present time I'm just spending a few bucks here and there on NH and PRR items.. .as I sell off all my other stuff.
Playing/practicing music actively and working along with all the other family stuff sure makes it hard to find time though...

Engineering had always been my hobby, in the sense that music paid me more than engineering. I stuck with both, figuring the time would come when I could go full time with music.
As time went on it worked out differently than I had hoped. The music pay stayed the same or fell and the engineering pay went up.
Eventually I got to the point where a couple of hours of engineering would pay more than a whole night of playing music.
I guess my new hobby is golf and it doesn't pay me a penny. Imagine paying 50 or a 100 dollars to go out amd make a fool of yourself. |

Jimmie,know where your coming from.after open heart surgery 2yrs.ago,and living on SS,it rough. and i still like to wheel and deal, just can't afford to.i buy and pay pay pal,then kick my butt the rest of the month!!man it's hard to just give up though.
seems my interest lately,are getting game for the table.one rabbit is worth gold around here.look out dogs!!! nope not that bad,yet.freezer full of good groc. each month say its gonna get better,then i buy something else.my problem,i don;t like to sell nothing, keep it all. well, guess there are others just like me out there. Thanks guys farris |

I used to be into model railroading. The "HO" scale. Alot of nice locomotives,and cars available in this scale.When we moved a few years ago, I didn't have room for them,so I keep everything out in the garage in plastic totes,and all of the table,and benchwork I had. Sold all of it to 2 different individuals before we moved again,and I'm concentrating all my time to my music.  |

Cooking, and boating. I love to whip up a beef chateau briand or perhaps a dijon chicken, maybe a coq au vin. Or be out on the ocean in my beloved Chris Craft, fishin' for salmon, halibut, cod, crab, and my favorite prawns.

Model trains for me, too - except I collect high-end 'O' scale, like MTH 'Premier' locos, and the occasional '3rd Rail/Brass' beauty (my favourite is a scale 'B&O' EM-1 'Yellowstone' (2-8-8-4)). I can't run them - these engines are three feet long...
I collect London Transport-related bus models (any scale) representing the '30s through the '60s, but my second most fervent passion - after music - is golf.

I collect memorabilia relating to The Monkees. Not just old records....but also sheet music, clothes hangers, lunch boxes, puzzles, paint-by-number sets, trading cards, model cars, buttons, belts, shirts, movie posters, magazines, 8-tracks, reel-to-reels......
