Hi,

Go here and listen to "Las Lagrimas Del Pollo Rico" the last song under the first album you see:
http://lasttrainhome.com/mp3s/mp3s.html

Oh so nice! Speaking of that, does anyone do Bossa Nova, Samba, or Flamenco Instrumentals with the Steel? Thanks.

Leila

For you C6ers, Fo'Bro' John Steel tabbed out "One Note Samba"
maybe if we ask him hard enough, he'd put it back up for us

For you E9ers, "Girl from Ipanema" is here: http://steelguitarforum.com/Forum8/HTML/002099.html
Nice version Basilh

Lots of steelers have played "Girl from Ipanema". Doug Jernigan has recorded "One Note Samba" and I have recorded "Desafinado" (on my CD, "Finally Here") plus a latin-style version of "Cherokee" (on CD "Four to the Bar")

Leila - The Bossa Nova ("new beat") is the greatest thing that's happened to jazz; it's one of my favorites. The 7th cut on my album is a Bossa by the great Antonio Carlos Jobim, called Once I Loved. ----j---- www.steelguitarbyhughjeffreys.com sample

Jobim was "Da Man"- I love all his stuff. We do Triste, Desafindo, Wave, Ipanema and Corcovado. Also Kenny Durham's "Blue Bossa" is a nice tune.

Yeah, Herb. What's up with the title of that tune??? It's "The Tears of the RICH Chicken," isn't it?

Dr. Hugh and Rick-Thanks for posting.
On Jim Cohen's CD he does an excellent job on Desafinado.
I too like Bossa Nova and played all of Jobim's tunes both on guitar and Pedal steel.
I like all styles of playing, but really enjoy that style of playing....al

Last night at a swanky country club party for Smith-Barney I got to play Wave, Blue Bossa, Ipanema, and my new bossa favorite "Love Dance" (aka "Turn up the Quiet") during the dinner set.

All was right with the world until they finsished eating, then it was back to Brick House and Sweet Home Alabama....ugh.

OH yes and BTW....Nice job Dave VA!!!

Bob Taillefer, a Canadian steeler who performed at this year's ISGC, is somebody who plays Bossa Nova steel. He has a forum membership, is very friendly, and I'm sure he'd be happy to talk to you. Do a search, and he'll turn up.

Heads Up b0b. Log on and listen to Let It Snow. right up your musical alley. Your favorite instrument in all its glory. For Herb Steiner> It's tears of the rich chicken. I think I'll take a week off from work and get some of what the writer has been taking.
