And I don't mean UPS..
a tad long..
reading several topics the past few weeks ( years) concerning our Steels, which one we play, who built it, who's happy, who's not , don't buy brand X, do buy brand Y , I know more than you, etc.. has made me scratch my head a tad..but not too hard as I don't want any hair to come out..

One person posts something..who really knows if they are right or wrong, they have an opinion..thats all it is..or they see something viewed in there own world...then a few more of us jump on the bandwagon and agree with the original post regardless if it has any validity..

Someone says they were mistreated by a manufacturer or the manufacturer never came to the table to resolve an issue..then we all jump in and add a chorus..

The threads go on and on all based on something we really don't even know if it is accurate or even existed in the first place !

I think as we head into the next 365 day window of time maybe we should take a look at what it is we are reading and responding to.

Guys and gals, this is the Internet..unless we are typing ourselves we really don't know nuthin' for nuttin'...

As we read threads where someone is blasting another person or vendor, or Instrument, how do we really know what the heck is going on ? Cause' I say so ? Cause' they say so ?

"I called the manufacturer 25 times, they never answered the phone".." Or returned my call"..

the next guy says.."I called him 5 minutes ago, he answerewd the phone..I call him everyday, he answers the phone"...

"They don't stand behind the warranty"

the next guy says " Great company to do business with"..

Someone buys a low end Steel for minimum $$$ and wants to turn into a Hi end Steel but finds out they can't..ok..sure, blame the vendor...

Not everyone is gonna be happy with everything they buy but thats not always the vendors fault. The buyer must take some responsiblity..

Not everyone agrees with what others state, I say thank God for that...

Some don't want to read any humor in the posts..I say..Few-ey..Some of the greatest unnkown stand up comics are present on this forum..I say..show your stuff.

I bought a new Subaru years back..I hated it..what a waste of money in my view..Imagine that ,they wouldn't take it back. It didn't have any mechanical issues, I just hated it. Period.

Perhaps if we should just take a moment to look at what the heck we are reading and maybe think about it a second or two before drawing a conclusion...

I have a brand X Steel..black D10, I love it..its about 8 years old..clearly not as good as the new ones and in some circle of opinions not as good as oher brands ..but one thing is certain ..if I brought home a new Steel that everyone else thought was the best on the planet I would still be playing the same sloppy out of tune licks..

This is the Internet..am I really who I say I am ?

t

or maybe not..

Good advice Tony. I try hard not to ruffle anyone's feathers but I guess Im as guilty as anyone of being overly opinionated. Maybe the golden rule applied to posting would do the trick.

Tony, You're right! I can get a laugh better with a poor joke using good sharp delivery than a good joke with poor delivery. I'm serious about comedy

How does this relate to steel? Well, it's all in the attack!

and I don't mean UPS? Tony, you need a little work

I am not a comedian even tho everybody laughs at me, I try to take life in stride and deal daily with whatever situation pops up. I taught School several years and a couple things I stressed was- #1 THINK-#2 WHEN in DOUBT -DON'T. It all comes down to this -when assessing any product, vender, or a situation,my grandma usedto say"What Do You Know About Soap if You Never Used It" Ed Naylor Steel Guitar Works.

I also agree Tony.. And Ed I`m not laughing at ya..I have been a member of this forum since very soon after B0B started it and never felt any need to make fun of anyone. I have offered opinions only when asked for them about subjects that my experience allowed. Everyone has had good and bad experiences with good and bad gear. Whatever works, but practice much is the only sure way..happy holidays to all.
