Delited out of respect for my old friend, Wayne Cox that seems to have lost his sense of humor,

Sorry to be the messenger of bad news, but the last I heard,Al was in prison. I don't profess to know of his guilt or his innocence, but if you search the archives of the forum, you will find quite a bit of info on this. Al was/is a great innovator and steel player. Please ignore BOBBE's rude & crude demeanor. MERRY CHRISTMAS,BOBBE,just remember Al probably won't have one.

Hey Wayne, How about his victims? What kind of Christmas will they have?

I didn't see where I was as bad as you are eluding, perhaps you can enlighten me?

Are you sending Christmas cards to Scott Peterson or the ex-Enron employees? Too bad about ole' Michael Jackson isn't it?

Cool, Bobbe! That's a nice little little jazzy arrangement. Is that Mel Deal on lead?

Donny Hinson: lead guitar was done by Andy Reius. A very highly respected "every style" lead player in Nashville. He is on all my CDs., and I hope will be forever. I also have used, along with Andy, in the past, Steve Hinson, Tommy white(on lead!) Mike Toppins, Bob Saxton, Jeff Jerrus, Kirt Ryle, Skip Mitchell Gregg Galbrath and even myself playing lead guitar once in a while. But Andy "the jazz guy" is the main guy on everything. Totally Andy on my last four CDs. This Christmas CD is a total jazz recording and Andy plays some of the greatest solos I've ever heard. This is my only Christmas CD, but they can be had at Wal-mart or direct from me, only $9.99. The guitar parts are worth a hundred times more than that! Ha! Thank you for the nice words Donny,

Reminds me of what a friends wife told him about their problems. She said Martha Stewart made millions of dollars this year and she cannot even spend any of it. I for one am sure happy I am not in one of the pens. Not much of a Christmas I wouldn't think.

Well, I don't understand the Al Petty problem, but will say that I always liked him as a fellow steel player, I hope the charges were all wrong, and that he gets out, IF, he's innocent and hasn't really hurt anyone. Personally, I'd rather bury my head in the sand on this one. It's none of my business.

Farris, I understand she will be under house arrest for a while. You guys will have plenty of time to practice and work with the band. The good news Martha has plenty of money so all bills will be paid. Good luck, that is if Bobbe does not grab the gig.

Farris: Bobbe told me he had his "wires" sniped years ago but that it hasn't hurt his playin'. That's a fact as evidenced by his "Soulful Steel" cd. It doesn't get any better. And to think he does all that with just one bent lever.

I don't me to stick my nose where it don't belong but I am curious about something. There was a guy who played steel and guitar and had a band in the early 70's that played in my home town. It was Al Parry and the Love Sisters. He had drums, bass and himself along with three girls. Is this the same Al Parry (Petty) that you all are talking about?

Wow, I am a little surprised. I can clearly remember walking into the J-T in Great Falls when I was 19, you could do that then, and seeing this band that fascinated me. Being a country music fan (not yet player)I was so impressed at the professionalism (I wish this did spellcheck for me) that his band exhibited. He also had a live tv show which wasn't very common around here at that time. It was the early 70's I believe. I think he married one of the gals in his band who's brother still lives here. I even worked with his brother-in-law.

I would later come to play music and in fact played that very club last weekend. I have never forgotten this big man with the gold necklace that laid on his bare chest (they used to dress like that in the 70's you may recal), his toupee (not a very good one)and the loads of talent that he had.

I often wondered what happened to him and I am sadened to hear the news.

I will wish Al Petty a merry christmas,
but after one goes out to those that lost money.
It seems there were people, regardless of all the court hoopla.

It is a shame, he is clearly liked by many,
and the last legal shoe hasn't dropped,
but for the moment ...
he is convicted therefore guilty until proven inocent, by facts, not wishfull thinking.
Like it or not.

Hey Bobbe that swings nicely
Isn't Andy in the TIme Jumpers too.
I saw him play last Sept, right after I met you.

Serious melodo-harmonist.. translation the cat can pick.
[This message was edited by David L. Donald on 07 December 2004 at 11:14 AM.]
