I played in and around Rochester between 1977 and the mid 80s. I played with a variety of folks but most often with the Ken Hardley Playboys. There are three other players I recall from right in Rochester at that time. The first two include the lovely and talented Kevin Maul and the great player (whose name I cannot recall...) who played with the band "Old Salt". Having thought of myself as finally achieving solid beginners status by that time, all it took was hearing Chuck Campbell play in order to make me realize that I wasn't deserving of even owning picks let alone putting them on. (Come to think of it, hearing him play makes me feel the same way even now...)
Foumite Kurt Kowalski was playing around the area just west of Rochester then - as I think he might still be. I know there were other players west of town besides him but I don't recall any of them now.
Interestingly, I see that you're in the Phoenix area which is where I had been playing for a couple of years before moving to New York. [This message was edited by Chris Bauer on 03 December 2004 at 04:09 PM.]
