Yep, always fun stuff from Jimbeaux.
Beats Walking really doesn't make you think Phillie,
but more like San Antonio!
I have the earlier one too, not quite as hot, but fun.[This message was edited by David L. Donald on 27 November 2004 at 03:26 PM.] |

Jimbeaux Cohen is one of the most underrated steel players in the business. The last time I was privileged to hear him was in the last Dallas show and he really "showed out". That's west Texas talk for "he done good". I have all four of his cd's b0b has here on the forum. You don't have them, you're missing out on some special music. The band 'Beats Walkin' provides some of the best music I've heard in a long time. Beats the heck out of songs like "Southbound 35" and sich.

Jim learned to play in the Midwest, so his swing roots are authentic, and not from Philly. But I think maybe you can hear plenty of East Coast bebop influence in his modern jazz tracks. It's all good. |

No, but of course, if you really wanted to elaborate, I wouldn't hold it against you, Bruce. LOL.
Thanks, man. Glad you like it. |
