In the announcement section, Reece Anderson and others mentioned sage advice from former or first flight instructors, so . . .

How many steelers have one FAA ticket or another? I'm guessing there are more than a few. To start it up, I have Comm/Inst, ASEL. circa 300 hrs.

Soloed in 1971 in Lewisburg VA. Owned a C172 and a C177RG which I sold upon retiring in 1997. Have inst rating and over 2200hrs. Fly now with a friend who owns a beach A36 with air-conditioning,turboed.weather uplink (which is better than Radar as it shows the weather left, right and behind the plane) with moving map,and all the NavCom stuff available. Also fly Microsoft's Simulator for fun when not playing my steel.

Started May 2003. First solo Aug. 31, 2003. Private check ride Nov. 4, 2003. in a Warrior II. Have just under 100 hrs. and working on inst. rating. Not bad for starting at 56 yrs. old. Took longer to get the medical than it did to get licensed.

Retired Coast Guard helicopter pilot, 5500 hrs in Jet Rangers, Hueys, Sikorsky H-3's and Sikorsky H-60's. Also have ATP w/S-61 type rating although I haven't flown commercially. Pedal steel seemed like a natural transition since helicopter flying continually involves both hands and both feet to keep all of those moving parts going in the same direction!

Regular old private pilot's license. Soloed in 2003, passed the test in early 2004. 200+ hours. Own a Grumman AA-1B two seater, based at Caldwell, NJ, and dearly love flying (OK, skidding and slipping) around the northeast.

Private ASEL 350 hours. Not current but plan to get back into soon. My main focus right now is to purchase a psg and learn to play it.

Ground school & 2 stick hours. Probably never get ticket due to eyeballs. Sat in the left front seat of a C5-A Hercules though.

At least you can't suffer vertigo from steelin' (or maybe you can?)

Solo 1954,checked out in,150,170 180,J3, Super Cub,Stinson Wagon, Champ,Cherokee,have stick time in a 310.
I loved it when I did it but I like
RC flying better, flew meets all over the south east. Compitition flying is my meat.
Our club did the air show in Pensacola Fl. in 1970, I flew the Biplane against Snoopy as the red barron in that show, it was a real successfull outing, the people loved it. Bill and Corky Fornoff was the stunt Pilots and he said he really liked the Club part of the show. Also the Flying Professor in the J3 Cub.
