Listened to Mike Sweeney last night!

Post by Tim Bridges »

Folks, I was in Nashville on business last night and wandered down Broadway. We eased into Legend's Corner because I heard some right nice steel. To my delight, it was Mike Sweeney. Mike, we really enjoyed the music. Your rendition of "Rose Colored Glasses" was terrific. Thanks for the inspiration and enjoyment. Please express our gratitude to the band as well. I had hoped to meet you, but we had to leave for dinner. When you took off on the C6th neck during Folsom Prison Blues, I was pretty well impressed. Great job. I think I'll be back up after Thanksgiving. Do ya'll play ther regularly?

We also heard another band a couple of doors down that also had a solid PSG player. I think his name was Vince. Mike, do you know who it was?

Tim,

You have discovered one of the world's most underrated steel guitarists. Mike's playing is phenominal, and he is one of my favorites.

Tim,

The other steel player you're thinking of is Vic Lawson. He's a great player and a great guy.

I saw Mike at the PSGA show in Connecticut and was very impressed. I'll be going to the web site and getting some of his CD material. Great sound. Mike, I especially enjoyed your very "human" rendition of (I believe it was) the theme from Black Orpheus at the PSGA show Image.

Bob,

No that was "Exodus". I got into it and just drew a blank. It was very embarrassing. Thank God I was among friends. I really can play that tune I even have it on a c.d. That will go down as one of my biggest bloopers. HA!!!

Mike,

You handled it so well that I didn't think it was a big deal. No performer could have done any wrong with that great crowd anyways. It was just like, "next!" That's why I thought it would be OK to kid about it. I'll be trying to buy that CD specifically now! My family may be in Nashville for a week in March. I'll definitely hope to come see you play.

Mike,

What do the weekwends for December and January look like for a "PSG Boot Camp"? I'd like to talk to you about scheduling, expectations and stuff. How can I get in touch with you?

Thanks
