There's a Bigsby vol/tone foot pedal on eBay at this time, under steel guitars, and on about page 3-5, I think it was.
Does not appear to have been abused altho' it has been used......
Price is STILL UNDER $200.00. That is
$9,800 +/- less than the one advertised by an internationally known music store in the east. How about that?
I posted this since there has been a lot of discussion about these kind of pedals. Some really good photo's in/out for reference purposes. |

It is still cheap. I had a 1949 Bigsby vol/tone pedal like that, which I sold on eBay. I listed the hit record and movie use in its history and a foreign collector bid it up to $610.00.

| I had a Bigsby pedal back in the late 1950' and when loading up after a gig in the country I put it on the bumper of my car and drove off. Yes, I lost it. My wife Mary, bought me another one for Christmas and I don't remember how I lost that one. Bobby Chatfield, Springfield, MO gave me one a few years ago and there isn't money enough for me to sell a gift given to me by a friend. It is in perfect condition and I use it here in my office quite often but have never taken it to any of the shows I play on out of town. Wait a minute? At $10,000 I might be persuaded to change my mind. Sorry Bobby. Scotty |

I've had several Bigsby volume pedals, starting back in the 1960's. I have two now; one is a few years old that Paul Warnik got for me brand new and reworked the pots/capacitors, the other is a volume-only pedal from the 1950's.
I never really liked the way the Bigsby pedal operated (too loose) and the doo-wah effect was never as pronounced as I'd have liked it. It's *cool* to use one with a Bigsby guitar, but for operation I MUCH PREFER the Fender Volume-tone pedal. And I have a couple of those and that's what I use when I want the doo-wah thing happening.
(I got all of my vol/tone pedals before they went sky-high.)
However, the Bigsbies are collectibles, fer sure. One problem for wannabe-collectors is, they were manufactured LONG after Paul sold the company, like up to a couple of years ago, when you could have gotten a new one for $175 or so if I recall. I'll bet a call to Gretsch, as distasteful as that might be  , could locate a new one today.
The $10K pedal, incidentally, is purported to be Paul Bigsby's OWN pedal (including box), plus included is documentation from PAB, and a letter from his Masonic lodge. So there's an historical provenance attached to this particular pedal. The same with Roy Ayres' pedal, which went for $610.
If George gets $10k for that thing I will be really surprised. I'd bet he'd part with it for a whole lot less. Of course, I've been shocked before in the vintage equipment market.
