Anyone in the New York City/Long Island area who knows of a country band that may need a steel guitar player?

Joe,
What were the last 5 gigs with steel players you checked out in NYC ?
Showing up is 90% of it. If you really want to play you need to get out to the clubs and do some hanging out.

Bob,
I'll be playing dobro with some bluegrass guys at Sunny's in Red Hook Brooklyn the 16th and maybe some pedalsteel later with some nutty improv thing.
Jimmy Nations is at Delta Grill
10:00pm. 700 9th Ave. New York, NY. (212) 956-0934 http://www.jimmynations.com/
He usually has a steel player
I'll post more if I remember anybody else. I keep on meeting these new young guys playing pedalsteel in the indie rock scene. With CMJ fest going on there is going to be a few of those guys playing that night also.

Also don't wait for there to be a steel player in the band to go. I've gotten some of my best gigs from going to shows because I like the music. If I think the band is great I say hello to them after the gig and let them know I play steel.
There is so much music going on in NYC. Some of the best in the world.

Hey Bob... Thanks for the tip.I caught Jimmy Nations at the Delta Cafe Saturday night.. Great band with great steel..I was there with family and friends celebrating the "Big 50'.(Could that be why I forgot the steel players name?)anyway..check out their website for some fine streaming audio.

Jimmy's regular steel guy, doubling on guitar, is Skip Krevens (who will be doing a set at the Ct. PSGA show). However Jon Graboff was filling in Saturday. Jimmy's my wingman/bud on our Sunday Brooklyn gig and Skip is going to be on guitar with some upcoming shows I'll be doing with Karen Hudson. Jon is a major multi-axe mutha. |
