I was just checking out the Sundazed label's website (reissues by Buck Owens, Red Simpson, Dick Curless, Kay Adams, Don Rich, Gram Parsons, Jerry Cole and a whole heap of 60s rock and 50s-60s Jazz) when I saw a spin-off page referring to their studio, producer Bob Irwin and outside projects done there.
Mainly remastering, and the like for reissue labels.

If you look at the list, you'll note that Buddy Emmons old Verve album is present:
Buddie Emmons - Steel Guitar Jazz (Verve)

And yes, of course he was spelling it Buddie at that point.
Now, I know this has been re-issued before, I saw one with a few extra tracks under a different name a few years back, it looked a little cheap and nasty though.
Tom Bradshaw reissued it many moons ago as well, but this seems to be a reissue by the original label Verve, or at least via whoever owns the Verve material.

Anyone got any gossip on this at all?

Jason, the album was originally on Mercury label. The Verve cd has been out for sometime now, I think I saw it about a year ago in a local record store. Just why exactly it's on Verve, I don't know. I guess they own the rights to some of the Mercury masters.

Thanks Jussi, seems to be the case.
Good ol' Verve, I must track down a copy of that one.

The re-issue is actually Mercury and Verve, both labels appear on the CD , the cover is Mercury only . It`s a great looking packade : original cover art in a gatefold digipack with a 4 x CD-size version of the backcover folded inside. (So you can actually read the liner notes )

It was re-issued shortly after Razor & Tie dropped "Amazing Steel Guitar: The Buddy Emmons Collection" (which included the Steel Guitar Jazz cuts,) from their catalog.

Today we're all used to jazz coming from the steel guitar and especially from Buddy, but I'll bet in 1963 when it first came out he was shocking a lot of people! (Cool, ain't it!)
