If you're speaking of 'from' as in 'born in', and from the reference to Scotty above, I think you are, then J. Day is from (was born in) Alabama.

Thanks Joey,

I read about the induction process and the criteria ....very informative.
Even more reason NOW for me to question this.
WHY not REECE?

Bruce,
I have no idea what you are talking about when you mentioned a few things about the MSA company and some sort of resolution.
That obviously was before my time....
and whatever that consisted of at the time was 30 years ago or so.....and has nothing to do with the criteria of being inducted to the HOF.
Nevertheless, it seems to me that this past issue is an opinion regarding a business venture (at least, that is what I gathered from your thread).

In my mind, an opinion on a business resolution is imaterial to the issue at hand...which is Criteria for being inducted to HOF.

Am I wrong here????

Again, not trying to be a smart _ _ _,
...and I don't have any idea about what might have happened when I was 5 or 6 years old.
This thread started out asking WHY....
and by God.....REECE meets the Criteria after I read it.

We may not agree on this issue Bruce...but I love ya anyway. Heck, you are a steel player. Family members always share their passions.....which we have here.

Thank you again Joey for that link.
As a new member, it helps me understand the inner workings a little more.

Hope I have not been too out of line here.

Bobby,
RE:Jimmy Day/Texas
Here's a partial quote from the liner notes,by Ed Hamilton,of Jimmy's 1st album,"Golden Steel Guitar Hits":

"From that beginning, back in his home state of Louisiana...."

You're welcome Billy.

You probably understand that this Forum has no connection to the "Hall of Fame". Some of the board are memebers here, but the HOF is a seperate entity.

It was even explained here, in the past, that the HOF is seperate from the ISGC.
That's a tough one for me to understand, but it's a fact so I accept it.

As I understand the process, it is a majority vote. One person can not be held responsible for someone not being inducted.

I see the late Jeff Newman is still on the list of members. Has a new one been added?

I may be mistaken, but it think for a new member of the committee to be added,
ALL other members must agree,
but for an inductee to the HOF, it is majority.

I am sure there are those on the commitee who want Reece and Julian inducted, I do know of one, but I am also sure there is a LOT of disputation on deciding who gets in.

I certainly won't bet against Reece getting in at some later date. He has the qualifications. But there are others too, and some are older and playing longer too.

And I also suspect a bit of the "legendary" is needed here too. A stories told of yore quality that maybe only time can bring.

But he is in the Texas HOF, and in many of our hearts too.

I was actually suprised this theme didn't come up till AFTER ISGC.
