I very seldom post on the forum anymore simply from the lack of time. I must however take the time to tell you my feelings about this CD. Jeff Newman was one of my dearest friends for over 30 years. He was also a mentor to me as he was to many. Jeff's untimely death has taken it's toll on many of us in the steel guitar community but he has left a legacy that we won't soon forget. Before his death Jeff completed a new CD called Once In a Lifetime. I just received my copy and listened for the first time this morning. I must first tell you how difficult it was for Joan and I to listen to, we both shed many tears throughout the 13 songs. This CD is Jeff Newman at his very best. It is a CD that took a lifetime to create because you have to live a lot to play the way Jeff played on this recording. His emotions run deep in the tracks of every song. The song selection is great; his tone is great his choice of what to play when is perfect. Billy Williams plays great and the production is done in such good musical taste. This is one of the best CDs I have ever heard by anyone. Thank you Jeff Newman, and thanks to Fran for everything you have meant to me.

Junior, is your tape with "Think I'll lay right down and cry myself to sleep" available on CD? I transferred the tune from tape to CD this weekend so I could listen to it in the truck but a true original CD would be better. "Burning Memories" is also a heartstopper though I'm not sure if it's on the same tape.
Thanks and regards...[This message was edited by Ray Minich on 20 July 2004 at 07:21 PM.] |

I tried to get the CD and other material from their website by sending several emails. However I do not get any response.
Is this the correct email address: jeffran@jeffran.com ?
Or is there another address I should use?

Yes, I ordered Jeff's new CD, got it this week from Mrs. Newman.I am in agreement with all the others here, it is a very good sounding CD.
There are few cuts on it that really touch me emotionally. I dare say that few steel recordings do that anymore. But you can tell by listening to it, that Jeff really played his heart out on it. It is GREAT!!!
Again, I recommend this CD for any lover of steel guitar. You will not be disappointed.
May GOD bless each of you!
