Any instruciton out there for no knees?
I am a newbie and I have a shobud S10 with 3 pedals but only the RKL. I was wondering if most the instruction out there has knees in the instruction or do they show how to get the same cord without knees. Thanks. I just orderd one of bobby s. beginning tapes. I guess I'll find out in a few days how he does it.

I have an instructional video method available for three pedals and no knees. More can be played with no knees than one would ever believe. The name of the video is "Slants and Reverses".
This method was taped using a Sho-Bud Maverick, sounds like what you are looking for.

This tape is also very useful to advanced and pro players, everyone needs to know whats on this tape. (I stole most of these licks from Jimmy Day, Ha!)
[This message was edited by BobbeSeymour on 26 July 2004 at 08:51 AM.]

Slanting is becoming a lost art.
I recommend Bobbe's tape.
I have plenty of KLs, but find using slants sound better in many songs.
I will never again play the intro to "A Way To Survive" without a slant. It just sounds better.
After years of wondering where these slants are, this tape cleared it up for me.

Well, with the elections coming up there will be alot of political slanting.Slanting is becoming a lost art
I'm working my way through Scotty's E9th instruction book (Mel Bay publ.). About the first 70 to 80 pages are all A&B. Then the RKL crops up about there. By about page 90 or 100, B & C. I don't have the book with me right now, but I think you can go pretty far in the book with no more.
[This message was edited by Colm Chomicky on 26 July 2004 at 03:20 PM.]

Darren, work that knee change. Make sure it lowers your 4 and 8th string. Example: play strings 5 and 8 with the A pedal - Then slide back 2 frets and add the knee. Maybe it doesn't sound like much know but it is a controlled slide that should go in your memory. Know try strings 5,6 and 8 with A& B pedals. Then slide back 2 frets releasing A and adding the knee. These are just 2 basic slides that you should learn immediately. Remember that 5,6 and 8 with the knee lever and no pedals gives you a minor chord. Yes, you need this lever to make the modern country sounds you intended to play in the first place.

Obviously Bobbe Seymour is the man and a true time tested Pro but I find it strange to learn bar slants before the knee lever change. I would be lost if I didn't have this change on my guitar. It's so easy and never fails. Bar slants on the other hand, in my opinion can be a little advanvced for the new player. Just my opinion, I'll shut up and go to my music room and practice for awhile........

Hey Kurt, buy a Jerry Byrd instructional tape, no knee levers AND no pedals! Slants and reverses everywhere. And he plays everything, and well. And all this he was doing before Webb Pierce ever heard of Bud Isaacs!
Kurt, it's nice to have mechanical convieniances on your guitar, but it's also nice to be able to play anything you want with your hands and not have to rely to much on the mechanical thing.
I thank you for the nice compliments and the respect you have shown me Kurt, you have been a good friend for a long time and I also appreciate you.
Your friend,
bobbe
