Got to play with Don Helms yesterday and he is realy a nice guy. It was like taking a walk back in Hank Williams old music and it is amazing what he can get out of that lap steel. He still plays the same steel he recorded with on Hanks Records.:> |

You are sooo right about Don. He is a pleasure to associate with. I had the pleasure of working several shows with Don and Gordon Terry in the late 1950s (playing lead guitar).
Don told us some interesting stuff about working with Hank.
I am glad to hear that he still has his double neck Gibson that he used back then.
MESSAGE TO DON: email me... I would like to chat with you again. JD |

There's some great interviews with Don Helms, and some of the other Drifting Cowboys, in the recent PBS documentary of Hank Williams. Available on DVD for $15-20 and worth every penny. |
