I just watched the Billy Walker Country Carnival for the first time. I just barely caught a glimpse of the steel player, not enough to tell who he was, but he was quite a picker. Can anyone tell me who he was? I also enjoyed seeing Claude Gray. I played an "informal" gig with him a couple of years ago. Good deep-voiced singer.

I caught that episode, too. That fella was a heck of a picker. I hope I can catch some of the old Porter Wagoner shows, that's what made me want to play music when I was a little kid.

I too noticed the sound of the steel behind him and commented to my wife about it but when they showed him it's the same guy who plays with the house band up there. Perhaps one of the northern players will see this and enlighten us. He's quite a dobro and harmonica player too !! Wears his hair in a short pig tail if that'll help in indentifying him.

From the time Ol Eric West said something a few weeks ago about RFD I have kept it on that station and taped a few shows as well. Hal Rugg does some KILLER "Close-up" picking from time to time on the Wilborn Bros. show. What a treat to see the REAL STUFF that's NOT "Watered Down"...........
Country Music as it is SUPPOSED TO BE. YEA
