I heard from a reliable source that Eddie Rivers is going to be the steel player with Asleep at the Wheel. I'm not exactly sure about this, but that's the way it sounds. Eddie would fit right in for sure! He's one of my teachers, and I wish him the best.

All I can say is great and it's about time. Finally he found something more exciting than prison work.

I heard Eddie Rivers with Asleep At The Wheel a couple of weeks ago in Berwyn Illinois and he sounded great. Wonderful restraint and a huge vibrato combined with fitting right in with the ensemble parts made for a great night. He has a really interesting "nutty" style that is very cool. I have seen AATW at least 20 times over the years and they sounded great.... especially with Eddie.
I had only met him once before when he was with The Western Box Turtles. He remembered seeing me play and was very kind.
My best to Eddie. I am so glad that he hooked up with such a great band.

Craig: Yes, I'm glad he's doing this now. You couldn't ask for a better group to back him up
I talked to Eddie today and when he told me that when Ray called to ask him to be with The Wheel he thought it was a phone prank. He told me that his wife was very influential is getting him to go, also. Many of you will see and hear that he's the man for The Wheel, and who's roots are DEEP in Western Swing. |

Hi Terry,
I'm not sure about Murphy. Eddie will be relocating to Austin, too. |

Terry; yes Murph is gunna stay here in Austin and retire from the road. He will pick locally and fish locally...ha..
Murph is back in Nashville right now going with a Stem-cell proceedure that hopefully will overtake all those bad Cells that kept Murph in Radiation for the last few years. He was just here in Austin over the weekend and picked Sunday night. He looks good and is in great spirits. They are trying to get the ONE Kidney that he has; fully operational before they start the proceedure, so hopefully soon; so he can get back here and we can pick and Fish...
