Hey all, I did a recording session on pedal steel a few weeks back. I've done hundreds of guitar sessions but this is my first(not just messing around in my studio) session on steel. Please, feedback is appreciated. Hope y'all enjoy, just scroll down the page to"Dan Franklin-Driving You Home"...http://www.natelapointe.net/download.html

Hi Nate,

Good start, hopefully many steel recordings may follow. Personally, I would like to hear the steel more present in the mix, and with a little more effect to make it broad, like you do with the guitar. Don't be shy on the steel, as Jeff Newman said: "play it with authority!".
Keep it going!

Thanks Ad, I appreciate the feedback. My buddy Dan did all the guitars and vocals and rough mixing. I think he's having real engineer mix it next week, so the steel should be more present in that mix.

Very cool... however, I agree that the steel needs to be brought forward a bit more in the mix. So what equipment were you using? BTW, some of the other clips on yoru page were done well also. Keep up the good work!

Thanks Gino.
I use a Williams U-12 through a '76 Twin with Celestion Vintage 30 speakers. No delay, just some 'verb.

I like it a lot....

The song, the mix, and the overall feel sounds a whole lot like some of the guys I work with down here in Texas...

Keep up the good work!
