anyone know of any good C6-oriented playalong tracks, or any other good instructional materials?
I already have the Emmons and Newman C6 and Swinging stuff, as well as some Herby Wallace transcriptions, and have checked out Jeff Lampert's online offerings. All good stuff, but I need more... |

Try some of Herb Steiner's play along tracks. I picked up the Western Swing play along tracks at the ISGC last year and they are great! Here's the url to Herb's website: www.herbsteinermusic.com [This message was edited by Bob Watson on 22 May 2004 at 01:05 PM.] |

Jonathon, if you can find the Paul Franklin C6 "talk tapes", I believe there are 4 volumes, they are great. He gives you the basic major triad grips and then shows you how each pedal effects these triads, then he shows you a diatonic major scale
(harmonized major scale) and talks about voice leading ( harmonizing a melody line ). He also shows you how to add more notes to the triads for fatter sounding chords and covers the styles of Curly Chalker and Maurice Anderson. I wish he would put these out on cd. If you're interested in jazz, there are a lot of good C6th arrangements by Jim Loessberg in the Forum Catalog.

You might want to check out the Jamey Aebersold stuff:

And to help learn the neck I find the Joe Wright scales spreadsheet to be invaluable.
