Actually, is this not a case of the "Ambassador of Steel Guitar" suing the "Chord King???" Image

Post by Guest »

Why, Frank, I do believe you're right about that. My mistake. What we really need is somebody to keep these titles straight -- a registry of steel guitar royalty. And if two people claim the same title, they can sue each other! Because suing is always the best way to settle differences.

I think you are right Stephen. Actually, I think Chalker originally had the title of Chord King.

I suggest to Bobbe that if he runs out of CDs to fund his defense, then he should auction off one of those "Classic" steel guitars right here on the Buy and Sell, to help raise funds. You know like one of those old MSA guitars, for instance! Image

Please don't let's start that up again. Jim, you can scour the Forum archives and find waaay too much on the subject. The discussions ALWAYS become heated and vitriolic. Let's not go there again.

Jim W.,
See http://steelguitarforum.com/Forum15/HTML/005523.html for the background.

I sure hope this legal action doesn't close down <U>Steel Guitar Nashville</U>, even if it results in another "Incredible Forum Donation".

Hey, have you seen the ad for the CD on SGNs website? Does this mean Brandy is back?

You really have to get this CD. It is the best pedal steel guitar CD I have ever heard. Bobbe can you give us an estimate of your legal fees as you see it.

Yeah, it was an open forum but it did get a little crazy from time to time. Some of the things that got said were out there if you ask me. Bobbe did keep the fire burning which is OK with me BUT ........

Well, let's just see how it all goes down. Image

The humor breaks the tension, especially on a heated thread. It also gave b0b good cause to close it (without being on the hook) before it became a slug fest which these things turn into, more often than not. I believe closing it was for the best because it averted any further controversy and speculation.

Let it remain in the archives for future generations to view, the classic routines of Jody and HowardR with guest star,

Howard, my opinions exactly. That EZboard forum finally got to the point where nothing I said could keep the "steel guitar subject" thing going. It was just insults and bad language and folks being hurt. The last straw was when I recieved an e-mail from Brett Day's Mom telling me that the forum had gotten to bad for her or her family to read. She regretted having to say this but after reading what she was talking about, I agreed with her and made the decision to close it immediatly. Her feelings were echoed by many others also. I had no control over what was being said by others, other than to stop it all by closing it down.
I wanted controversy, this is how we learn, getting differing opinions on steel subjects, but the profanity, anger, stupidity that was displayed by some had little to do with the learning process that I wanted promoted for steel guitar. I provoked some folks by offering opinions, some regretfully couldn't take it, most loved it. My statements were based in expermenting, experience and fact. Most of those that disagreed with me did it in humor, or because they didn't know any better, or because they knew better but had monitary reasons to disagree with me. I come off at times like a "Know it all" but it should be remembered that I do this 24/7 for a living in a town where music is a good teacher, a hard teacher, and I've done it for many years. Also 95% of my statements were of a humorous stature.
Most folks that argued with me are folks that do this for a hobby and probably do their day jobs a lot better than I could. I don't argue with them about their jobs but some seem to wanted to do this to me. I am also willing to prove anything statement that I make. You may have to come to Nashville to have me prove it though.
Anyway, this is a wonderful world of steel guitar that we live in and I want everyone to find the happiness in it that I have. Our job as players is to bring joy, respect, admiration and the love of music to all that hear us play. Its a job that we should all love. I do, and I'm here to continue this, and help anyone that wants and need help in any "steel guitar way".
We have many great folks to thank in this industry, Scotty, Tom Bradshaw,Gene Fields, Billy and Wanda Cooper, Bobby Lee forums, boy, this list is never ending, all the great players, Tommy, Paul, Hal, Dan,Herbie, Weldon,John, Johnny and Joan, the great Buddy Emmons. These lists could go on forever also! We have so many great supporters of steel that truly love it. Only a couple that would rather take than give.
Yes, a very good steel world we are in.

Got my copy of the CD to-day and listened from start to finish.
It was just like sittin' in the front seat at a concert and having a real good time.
I really like the format with the live audience and Bobbe's dialogue in between the songs. Gives a personal touch!
There is something here for everyone and Bobbe persues the variety of Steel Guitar styles while demonstrating his excellent playing techniques.
It is the most refreshing CD I have heard in a long while.
Great work Bobbe.

I guess that we were lucky enought to be one of the first to get Bobbe's cd. I agree that it is one excellent cd. I (as a newbie) am totally amazed at some of the things this man does on a steel guitar. But then I am amazed at some of the things he does while not on the steel.
Bobbe has been a great help and source of information to me and has helped me to avoid some crucial mistakes in purchasing certain items.
He has got to be a nice guy, "Tuffy" didn't want to bite him.

I Love these "group hugs".

Howard, that better be your "tone bar" that's poking me.

I too noted that it was the callous comments pointed in Brett's direction that I found myself having no defense for. Ususally I can find no offense in the written word.

The "b0b trial™" was my favorite, and the allowance from Bobbe to allowing my humble self to preside briefly as Hon Judge Ericeaux Maleaux Flambeaux Thibodeaux. It was a "moment of fame" that I will NEVER forget, and could not get here or elsewhere. b0b proved what a magnanamous "defendant" he made too. He did his time. Image I hung up my robe and gave my wig to Howard, which he still wears proudly.

Play on Bobbe. Image

I think I'll ask Kyle, Dave and Reecie-poo if they will let me have a little space in their booth at the Dallas show to sell my new CD. After all, I have them to thank for it! Like Howard said, nothing like a little humor to break things up a bit! Ha!
The show promo guys don't seem to want to let anyone else sell any of them, Albert, what's going on there? I think it would be great if those boys would give me some space in their booth to sell some myself, how 'bout it boys?
Is this a great country or what?

That's a great idea. It takes a warped mind like yours to think of that, Bobbe. I like it!
