Hey guys, I'm new to the forum. just got my password today.
my name is Terry Sneed, I'm from south Ar.
my wife's name is Kathy, and I have a son named Billy. although I don't have a steel now, I've been playing one for 25+ years. I had an Emmons 10 string loyd Green model. back neck padded. I sold that guitar back to the man I bought it from, almost a year ago. I've never played C6th I just like that plain ole traditional country sound.
I'm hoping to get another guitar within a year, hopefully sooner.
I'm lookin forward to talkin with ya'll. I'm always interested in what guitar each of ya'll play, and need to ask a few questions before I buy another one.
I started out with a shobud LDG model, then went to an MSA then to the Emmons. I liked the sound of the Emmons the best.
I've heard a lot about the carter guitars, and would like ya'll's imput on the carter starter, as well as the other single neck 10 string Carter guitars. thanks a lot.
Terry

Welcome Terry!!

I have a Zumsteel SD10 3x5 and really like it. It has GREAT tone and smooth pedal and knee lever action.

I haven't been playing long but enjoy it alot.

I've noticed quite a few members from Arkansas joining the forum. Maybe we should think about starting an Arkansas Steel Guitar Assn.

Again, welcome aboard.

Welcome, Terry. If you've had years of playing on pro model Sho~Buds, MSAs, and Emmons guitars, I think you'd be happiest getting another pro level guitar. A Carter pro-model would be a great choice (as would any of several brands). But I don't think you'd be happy with the Carter Starter, because it is a student guitar and you've already gone past that level. It's really intended as a (relatively) low cost student model.
Good luck, and enjoy!

Welcome Terry.
Definitely get yourself off to a jam,
somebody will sit you down at something cool.

You seem an Emmons guy, so maybe go for what you know.

thanks for the welcome guys.
Jerry, is Ronnie the steel player for that country show in hot springs(can't think of the name right now). I think the man that started it used to be in polotics.

also, can you give me the name of the man that has a steel guitar store in Hotsprings?
I've been there, but it's been a long time.

John- I like the sound of a zum also. the zum, the Franklin, and the Emmons are my favorite steel guitars. I hadn't heard a carter, so I can't say about it.

Jim- your probly right, I'll probly go with a pro model. but moneys tight right now, so It'll probly have to be a used one.

Fred, no relation to Danny as far as i know.

thanks David. and all.

Terry, I'm not sure if they are members. I've never seen a post by any of them. I rarely see Benny or Pete, but I'll ask next time I see them.

Thanks Ken. I use to run around with Richard.
that guy is a mess!
By the way- Benny has an Emmons D-10 that he said he'd sell me for $1,500. I'm supposed to go take a look at it sometime this week.
I've never played C6th, but I might just try and learn a few licks on it. besides, that's just too good of a deal to pass up.

Terry....welcome to the forum. It's good to have you here. Both Bennie Shelton and Richard Ivey are old friends of mine, whom I haven't seen in quite some time. If Bennie's got an Emmons for sale, it'll be a good one. He's always kept his guitars in top shape....and you couldn't go wrong for $1500.00. Take care and again, welcome! HAL
