Paul Graupp was kind enough to send me some old photos of some of our legends..I've posted them here for you to see..wish I had another hat here like the one my friend Bud Charlton is wearing. I have one just like it and my wife is threatening to bury it. I hope the site checks out. Just clik on the link below:
Thanks Paul.

Fred. I just got through checking out the photos. I myself am a history nut anyway. What goes through my head when I see things like these photos is "My gosh if those hats could talk, What would they say"? I wear a hat when I play. I can only imagine the places that some of those hats have been. I can bet that there would be some very intersting stories to be heard from those hats. The site is great. I love seeing old photos like that. Two thumbs up!!!!

Not tooting my own whistle, but I have some interesting "old photo's" that will be avail-able soon, and hopefully you folks will enjoy them as I did yours. To be featured is a YOUNG Leon Rhodes; Bill Stafford's "saw horse steel guitar"; B.Emmons-very young; B.Emmons looking very old; a steelman named "Dusty" with Hank Thompson's band back in 1952; plus a number of other oldies.

Well check out the site again. I've added the pics from Walt Stettner. They are labeled Buddy Charlton 1, Buddy Emmons 1, and Weldon Myrick 1.
I've also added a super pic from Roy Ayres, which shows the Pee Wee King Band and of course Roy sitting right up front, handsome as the best man at a bull frog wedding. Wonder what the hell happened in 40 years. No flames Roy, but you do look different.
Roy was kind enough to furnish all the band members names and if you would like, email me and I'll be glad to send them to you. Check 'em out, it's fun.

Dusty Stewart is still playing PSG with the Liberty Opry in Liberty, Texas.
I met him about 3 years ago and go listen to him about once a week. Not only is he a excellent PSG player, He is one find friendly guy. I have picked up a lot of good moves from just watching his smooth Technique.
His Daughter played drums for the opry about 2 yrs.

Just added some pics to the site, thanks to Jussi Huhtakangas (wonder if we can change his name, hell I can't even say it much less spell it) and Walt Stettner. Seriously, thanks you guys.
The one of Ben Keith (around 1960) has some folks around him you might recognize: Roger Miller, Darrell McCall and Odell Martin. All this according to Walt.
I might add if you want these pics for your historical albums, you might want to copy them out..That website is limited relative to space and there's gonna' come a time when I'll have to delete in order to add more.
I don't mind spending the time on these if you cats enjoy them. I'll try to give credit to where they come from. Just please make sure the info you pass on is correct.
I don't like flames and my asbestos chastity belt is wearing thin.

John, that ain't my job man. You'll have to ask Walt...How bout it Walt? Lay it on us..
BTW I've added some more...a couple of Alvino Rey, Cindy Cashdollar, and a chronological assortment of yours truly when 16, 37, and 70 years old. The guitar I'm playing in the 1970 photo is an old Fender Bandmaster, modified with 3 pedals on an EMaj neck and 3 pedals on a C6 neck.
Now you youngsters can see what happens when steel players go from 16 to 70. Don't laugh you'll look similar, if you last that long.

Fred, please inform the guys that Jim Bob, who lives close to San Jose, Ca. is the owner and builder of that fine saw horse steel guitar. Absolutely no cabinet drop of any kind on that instrument. I was very fortunate to have been allowed the priviledge of playing it at that show in San Jose. Happy New Year to all..

Well, Walt Stettner and others have come through with some more great photos of "Old Time Players". And I've posted them on the site... You'll have to go to page 3 to see them... You gotta' get a glimpse of that handsome Herb Remington and there's even a shot of our own Donnie Hinson on that page.. Man I'm glad I'm younger than these folks.
