After looking at Jimmy's tunings on b0b's tuning page, and looking at the pics in the booklet for "Golden Steel Guitar Hits/Steel and Strings", it looks like his Sho-Bud had 9 pedals and 4 knee levers? Is that correct? And not being a pedal pusher, do you just use some pedals for one neck and the others for the other neck, or do you use some on both? His 'copedent' looks as though 3 pedals and 4 knee levers are used on the E9 neck, and 5 pedals and 1 knee lever are used on his C6. But some of the pictures look like there are 9 vertical rods on his guitar...I just feel like I need to know everything I can about those recordings, even on the 537th listen, I'm still hearing new and amazing things. Thanks alot.

I too would be interested to see a "snapshot in time" of the tunings used on those recordings.

I believe Herb Steiner has said it was a Fender D8 with a D9th tuning and a C6th.

Can anyone post definitively what JD's tuning/pedal configuration was for that time?

As far as I know it was his Sho-Bud D8, D9th and C6th with no knee levers. I'm sure there are others who know more than I do about his exact tunings though.

Mark is correct. I mistakenly mentioned I thought it was a Fender guitar once, and the folk tale stuck. It was a Sho~Bud D8.
