I know I know its kids cartoon[but REALLY funny!!] anyway the steel playing on the GREAT backround music is SUPER..really first rate. Sounds like the player uses pedal and non pedal guitars.. Whoever it is,this guy is a great player with fantastic tone, taste, and touch. I watch the dumb cartoons just to hear the great steel playing!! anyone know who this fine player is????? bob

It's fellow forumite Gary Brandin. If interested, check out his band project (with his son Jeff) "The Vanduras". I believe it's offered here on the forum, and if not, you can get it at www.horserockrecords.com
Great stuff!

Steinar

PS - The Vanduras CD is called "In The Dark"

I've watched S. S. but didn't hear any steel.
My cable co. must carry the no-steel version.

Jeremy Wakefield and Sage Guyton are the guys responsible for the music. Both play with The Lucky Stars, a GREAT LA based western swing band. Gary Brandin I believe does most of the parts on Sponge Bob, but I think JW has done some too. And Junior Brown was questing in the Texas-episode

I just happened to pick up the DVD set of the compelte first season yesterday(got a very good price on it). The deciding factor was that it included the Texas episode. Junior Brown's playing is all over the episode. He actually has one spoken line as well. Not the funniest episode, but a lot of fine steel playing.

Included in the DVD set is a number of added features. Unfortunatley they don't discuss the music or who plays it. Someone only makes the comment that they love the music. They do have an extensive piece on the voices and the creation of them.

BTW, my favorite episode is Spongebob Learns a Bad Word. His pal Thomas calls the bad words "sentence enhansers". Very funny episode.
