Hey, Paul, I've learned another song you played on. It is "Never Knew Lonely" by Vince Gill. I love to play with "Oceanfront Property" too. I love playing along with "This Ain't No Thinkin' Thing" by Trace Adkins too. I can play the intro by myself. I've got a new bar that I use and it doesn't slide around like my Dunlop bar did. My playing is coming along great. I can't wait to meet you and play for you. Brett, Emmons S-10, Morrell lapsteel |

Hey Brett,
Cool! What kind of bar did you get? Some picks and bars are more user friendly than others. I have acquired the new Bullseye bar and am loving it.....I gotta run. We're doing a track for the Superbowl halftime show tonight. You into football? I am obviously pulling for the Titans. Maybe I'll get an autographed jersey out of this?...Paul[This message was edited by Franklin on 06 January 2004 at 01:35 PM.] |

Hey, Paul, I got a bar that is made by a company called Sacred Steel, I think. There are grooves in the bar to help me grip it better with my left hand. I can play the low strings on the steel without problems and I love the Lila McCann song "Rain Of Angels". I've played along with that song too and when you're playing those low notes toward the end of the song, I listen closely to what you're playing and I play it with you. I don't watch football very often, but I love the Super Bowl. I can play high notes on one string like in Lila's song "Changing Faces. I do it by sliding the bar up the fretboard at the high end of the steel. I also play along with you on "Poor Boy Blues" by Chet Atkins and Mark Knopfler. Brett, Emmons S-10, Morrell lapsteel |

Hi Brett, a question for you.....I see that you have a lap steel. Do you like playing without pedals, and what tuning do you use? |

Howard, I mainly play with pedals. The lap steel is tuned to an open E, I think. I play a little lap steel, but my main instrument is pedal steel. My lap steel is mainly used in addition to my pedal steel. Brett Day, Emmons S-10, Morrell lapsteel |
