I heard a song on the radio not long ago, 'It Should Be Easier Now' by Willie Nelson with Curtis Potter, with some fantastic steel tone (Buddy, of course). I tracked down the album it was on, and treated myself to the Willie Nelson/Curtis Potter cd for Christmas, 'Six Hours At Pedernales'. Buddy's tone is superb, rich, deep, effortless. Buddy, if you're reading this, can you remember what steel/amp/effects you used? I know I can't even hold your fingerpicks, but I would like to be 'in the ballpark' nevertheless.
Thanks, Richard. |

If I remember correctly, Buddy really did something I'd never heard before on that tune. I think it was near the end. I know my good friend Tom Vollmer will remember it as he pointed it out to me and should me how to play it.

Damir. The outro on it should be easier now is Buddy,s tone and feel as pretty as a steel could be. I rank it right along with the Duane Eddy album, which I think is tops.I have a number of Step One Records and they all are great.TV |

Ray, Buddy's on steel, Greg Galbraith and Brent Mason on guitar, David Smith on bass.
I ordered the cd through a British company called MVC, had no trouble getting it. £10.99, I don't know what that is in $$, quite expensive I suppose. |

My wife bought me this album for my birthday 3 probably 4 years ago, I had never heard of Curtis Potter before, What a voice. My wife got it from Virgin records. Trouble is I can't find any other CP albums over here. And yes the steel is shivers down your back stuff.

Get Curtis Potters CD's from Steve Reed at Southland Records. Also listen to Gary Carpenters' steel on the "Best of Curtis Potter, Vol. 1". I agree that Curtis is a great singer!!!!. Here's the link: http://southlandrecords.com/southlandrecords.htm
Enjoy!!! There are some wonderful western swing CD's available through Steve.
