Lloyd Green has sent me a message regarding the exact recording information of Jeanne Pruett's "Satin Sheets", her smash hit and career song from 1973. This question came up in the Forum recently.
Here is the answer by the man himself:

On January 22, 1973, at 6 PM, we recorded at Bradley's Barn Jeanne Pruett's first, and only, # 1 Billboard single, "Satin Sheets". In the prior 2 years we had recorded 4 other songs with Jeanne that charted in Billboard, thus setting her up for her "career" song.
In my record collection is a copy of the "Satin Sheets" album which Walter Haynes, Jeanne's record producer, and second in command to Owen Bradley at Decca Records during that era, gave me during a visit to his office sometime in 1973. It is stamped, "sample copy, not to be sold" and one corner is cut off the jacket at a 45 degree angle, typical of copies which would have been in the record offices of the era.
On April 2, at 2 PM & 6 PM, at Bradley's Barn we recorded the remaining songs needed to complete the "Satin Sheets" album. "Satin Sheets", the single, reached the #1 position on May 26, 1973 and remained at that spot for 3 weeks.
On July 18, 6 PM & November 5, 6 PM, my record session book for 1973 shows two more Jeanne Pruett sessions for Walter Haynes and Decca Records. And if memory serves me correctly, on one of those sessions Walter had two steels.....me and Buddy Emmons. I believe the year is correct when we were both hired for the Jeanne P. session. 1973 would be correct if that is the year Buddy returned from L. A. to resume his Nashville career.

| Walter awoke in his sleep the night before the session and had the intro in his head. He called Grady and hummed the intro over the phone. The next day Grady nailed the intro. This told to me by Walter. Walter was a treasure of a producer and is full of these old stories. I have had the pleasure of spending much time with him. |

Thanks for clearing up the Walter Haynes connection to this song. I was all wet on who played the steel part, but I'm glad you've confirmed that Walter was involved in producing Jeanne's work.
