So I win an auction on eBay for a little Boss BX600 stereo mixer. I want a little mixer to record directly into my computer and this was just what I needed, and I won it for $25. Seller said it worked fine.

Well, I got it and it wouldn't even power up, no lights, no input, nothin'. So I got on the email to the seller and explained that it doesn't work, and asked what are his suggestions.

I figured, what the hell, maybe I got burned.

Well, the seller wrote me back and said that if the instrument was misrepresented and it doesn't work, I had his sincere apologies and I should just send it back for a full refund.

Then he asked "Are you the Herb Steiner that went to Rosewood Avenue Elementary School in 1953, and then went... etc.? If so, I'm an old classmate of yours, blah blah blah." Hell, of course I remembered him, I used to trade guitars with him, he was in my class in high school, we had many mutual friends, the whole nine yards. We exchanged phone numbers and later tonight we'll call and reminisce. After only 37 years.

This would not have happened if that stupid little mixer hadn't screwed up. I believe this is the definition of "serendipity."

I affectionately look at these kinds of "coincidences" as a big High-Five from our Maker, himself.
Congratulations!

Ah yes, it was 6 degrees of separation.
But with the net now it might be down to 5.
~Nice story.

Great story Herb! Ahhh E-bay... Here's another one.
Split up with the wife 6 mo. ago and didn't have a computer.Stopped by my brother's house and hopped on his Dell to surf alittle. Let me stop here to preface this alittle, Dick Miller sold me my first Steel and was a huge influnce on me and when Dick passed away I thought if I ever get the chance to get a Bethel, I'll do whatever I can to make it happen. So..I get on E-bay what do I happen to find? Not only a Bethel, but a guitar that Dick built special for Terry Bethel! Anyway to make a long story short, the guitar is mine . Talked to Terry and found out that Dick only built about 20 or so Bethels!So.....coincidence, that this guitar came to me? I....don't think so.
