Who played steel on this old song? Johnny Wright sang, and the song was written (I think) by Tom T. Hall. Song was featured as the opening song in the movie "Full Metal Jacket".

I think its Stu Basore. I believe he was playing steel for Kitty and Johnny when that song was recorded. Jason

It was Stu Basore! This is one of the first songs he recorded after he got his first Emmons' p/p guitar.
