Topic: A steel on wheels? |

| OK...Everybody knows how heavy a steel can be - except the new MSAs of course. I have a D10 MSA from 1976 which weighs literally 80 lbs in the case. With chronic back problems probably caused by carrying this thing since I was 17, I would like to have a way to wheel it in the case. Has anyone ever heard of a gizmo that would temporarily attach to the case, front and back, while the case is in the upright position, handle up? I can envision such a widget that would strap on or "spring" on to the case with wheels. Waddaya think, guys and gals? Ever seen anything on the market? --Roger |

| Roger, Several years ago I put rollers and a handle on a steel guitar case. I was able to roll the case around with no problem. The good thing is it costs very little to do it. |

| I have a Sierra-built "Wheel-EZE" case that is just great and solves the problem beautifully. Alas, with the demise of Sierra I don't know where you'd get one anymore. Maybe David Wright or Joe Wright or one of the other Wright Brothers could tell us... |

Roger,
There is a small handtruck on the market for about $20.00 that also doubles as a platform truck/buggy,check Wal-Mart,lowes,or a similar store ,that may be what you need.

| That hand truck idea sounds like a good one, maybe get some tie-down straps that have those clamps to use with it. |

Well , as one half of the "Wright" Brothers, I will tell you this , The Sierra Cases were built by SKB, we put the guts in them to hold the guitar...I do believe is's the best case out there, light, and very tough....I hope this helps !!!!!and it will fly put one on a plane and see.....

I have a wheel-eez case for one of my guitars, and it is not padded well; in other words I don't love it. I spent about $8.00 to buy two non-pivoting wheels and a luggage handle and put them on the outside of the case for my other steel, and this I like just fine. This is a standard case.
Problem with a dolly or handtruck is even more weight.

Hey, thsanks to all of you...again! Your thoughts are appreciated. Appears to be no magic solution out there. Sounds like, for the most part, whatever works, works! Roger-this may be a little off topic. But you mentioned carrying heavy steels with the case. I just don't take the case, which is very heavy anyway.
I used to carry mine in the trunk of the car all set up.
Lay it down on a moving pad or foam in the trunk of most cars,and unscrew the back legs.
It will fit most cars. Get to the job and screw the back legs on and pick it up and carry it in all ready to go.
I've been doing it all my life. No Problem. Why carry a heavy case around? Now with vans it is easy and works good too.....al

I went to wal-mart and bought a hand truck that folds up very small and firs between my rig and thside of the van or in the Crysler on top of everything. I think it was about $30:00 and works great.
Jack Conyer has a cart and loads Speakers on bottom then rack and seat, with the axe on top, when inside he opens the guitar case puts it togather sets it down and then unloads the rest, works great, I now want one of those.
