I nominate Wayne to get it rolling! I'll volunteer to help any way I can. We really have a great contingent of steel players here in the peach state. It would be nice to have a way to meet and put a face with some of the names we see here on the Forum, as well as some that don't post here. What's next, Wayne? Maybe Ernie's show in Deceber?

It would be nice to have a Steel Guitar Club in GA. I think there was a planning meeting a couple of years ago but it never got off the ground. Be sure to e-mail me if I can help. I would support it.

We started the MASGA (Mid Atlantic Steel Guitar Assn) a couple of years ago and it has been a great success. While we have members from about 10 states (including GA), I believe a club there would be highly successful. The playing, friendships, etc. have been wonderful here. If we can help you with any ideas, etc.., let us hear from you...I am a promoter at the Wilson, NC location - The Bill Ellis Convention Center

Count me in. Organizing steel guitarists is a lot akin to herding cats but you'll meet a lot of fine folks in the process. It can be done, I bet.

I'll sign up...the first steel I ever sat behind belonged to Jack Conyers...we were working at the Golden Gator in McCrae...with Doug Robertson...remember him,Eddie?I was subbing for Murray Price...16 years old and nothing but country music on my mind(well, maybe a couple of other things)...there were some good steel players around Macon...Eddie,Paul Graupp,Jack,Jack Sutton(what ever happened to Jack?),Frank Crawley...I know I've left some out...but that was a long time ago...I loved playing with every one of them!

Hey Steve, Jack Sutton retired from the RAFB, and moved to Destin, Fl. How have you been? It's been awhile since we talked. Man, I really miss those days, we had fun didn't we? Anyway I nominate Wayne Baker for President!

It is shameful that our population in the Atlanta area is over 4 million yet we can't have a steel guitar club or a steel guitar convention a couple of times a year. Carl Dixon really tried but with little success. Count me in if I can be of assistance. Good luck.

Well, sounds like there is some interest in a Ga association. Excellent. Lets do it. Please see the "Events and Announcements" section for the official request for Georgia steel player contact info.

Thanks,
