Sometime ago Jerry Douglas was featured on the live telecast of the Grand Ole Opry. If a steel player was given the opportunity to be showcased who would you vote for to feature the steel guitar? My personal favorite has always been Buddy Emmons and I sure would like to see him given the opportunity to perform a live set. Then I think about Weldon Myrick who was the staff steel player on the Grand Ole Opry for 30 plus years and would love to see him play a set on the live telecast. It may be a dream but it sure would be great to see it come to reality.

Yeah, there are a lot of big names that would be appropriate here. Weldon from the staff recently, but then there's Hal Rugg, Jeff Newman and a host of others from some time back. Buddy, Lloyd or Paul would all be a show to remember. But don't overlook the man that's got the job right now. Tommy doesn't back up to any of them!

I'd second the vote for Buddy.

There's other players that also deserve the spot due to their playing skills and history, but Buddy has an on-stage charisma that would work well on TV, and with the general public.

I hate to have to pick just one player. I guess that's why I go to steel shows more than I watch or attend The Opry.

If I have to pick just one then I'll go with Joe Wright for the total entertainment package.

I think a different one should be featured every week. But, oh well.
