Does anyone out there know anything about the Dutch-made Egmond brand lap steel guitars. I just picked one up that was made in the '30s.
Thanks

George

I was not aware that Egmond even existed at that time. When I was playing punk rock on teisco's, I had 3 Egmond MOTO guitars that were lovely, all made in the mid 60's. They were built in Denmark, I think. I'd love to see that, if it comes up for sale I'd also like to know.

Keith,

I just found out that the model I have was introduce in the late-'30s and not discontinued until 1961. I also understand that it was featured in all their catalogs.
Mine is so old, it pre-dates any input jack that I have ever seen. A two-prong house-hold electric type, with round brass pins, very simular to a double bi-post with a + lead and a ground lead. The pickup is actually a horseshoe shapped magnet with a coil wraped around it. It has white bakelite fret markers inlaid into a rosewood board.
I called down to Gruhn's in Nashville, and the fellow there knew the model I have. It isn't worth a lot of $, but sounds so cool.
I'll try to take some photos this weekend.

George
