Sarah Jory -- "Monstress" Steeler

Post by Roy Ayres »

It's 10:00 p.m. Eastern Friday night. I'm sitting here listening to Sarah Jory on Steel Radio from the ISGC play "Sugarfoot Rag. " She just finished "She Believes In Me". That young lady is fantastic!

Ray, I agree with you. Downright eerie how she's able to cop Lloyd"s tone, but not copy him. She's a good'un, no doubt about it! Wish I was in St. Louis!

Although she is awfully young, there was a LOT of Joaquin influence in her rendition of Oklahoma Stomp.

If you liked Sarah then you need to purchase the Joe Wright / Sarah Jorey video that was made in Australia. It is available on Joe's web page and it is really a great 2 hours of steel'n.

I, like Roy Ayres, heard a lot of Joachin Murphy in the song...Betcha' she's done her homework. Joachin was a killer on that particular song. Image

Just came back from St. Louis; Sarah Jory, what can you say. She is to much to content with, excellent musician, fastest hands ever, great playing. As Hal Rugg said while on stage, "somebody needs to spank that Girl", she is just too bad!!!!!

Sarah is my new favorite steel player!!
What an entertainer...you can never "tell" someone just how good she is...you have to see her in person to appreciate the depth of talent this woman posesses...whether singing, playing steel or rock/blues slide guitar....wow!
It doesn't hurt that she looks great too!!
Lloyd was absolutely fantastic, but Sarah MADE the convention for me this year!

Ditto for me. I hope that she will be back next year at St. Louis. If you think she sounded good over the internet then you should have been in the room while she played and could see the emotion she puts into her playing. To include total control and confidence of the instrument.

You have to see her in-person.

i believe it was Scotty that introduced her as the Queen of Steel
in my book she's just that
Sarah played round here 3 years ago
she'd just driven from England to the South of France and left right after the gig for Holland.
Let me tell ya',this good lookin and hard workin' Lady put on one Dyno-Mite Show.
She was the highlight of our Festival.
it must be Love Image

i remember beeing at the event she drove to in holland after 12 hours or so in a car the band arrived tired in Opmeer, two hours later she and her band gave a superb performance which even stopped the "linedancers" from dancing and they`ll all stood there watching with open mouths..!!
(haven`t seen any act do the same yet !!)

Not only is she an incredible performer, she is one of the kindest, sweetest, nicest, most sincere human beings I have ever met in my entire life. She spent virtually all of Saturday hanging around the Peavey room giving demos, signing autographs, jawing, jamming and joking with everybody who stopped by. Mike Brown, I hope the folks at Peavey are paying her well for her endorsement, because your room was packed the whole time she was there. My son spent a semester in London last fall and saw her over there. He told me she was the one act to absolutely not miss in St. Louis. He was right. Smart boy.

Sarah has been playing steel since she was almost a toddler. I once saw a pic of her when she was very young. Has anyone got a recent pic of this lovely lady they'd care to share on the Forum ? I also recall hearing a tape of her and Buddy duelling together...she's a real knock-out !

Sarah adds a whole new dimension to the "slide" style, whether its pedal steel or bottleneck style. She is a first rate performer in every way, who loves the business. Her presentation in the Peavey Demo Booth was standing room only. Hopefully, all requirements will fall into place for her to endorse the new Nashville 112 amplifier in export markets. I am working on this now.

Please visit her website at; www.sarahjory.com

She is a "musicians musician".
