Ronnie Miller played this at ISGC, and said it was written by Gene O'Neil. I always thought Rocky Caple from Tulsa wrote it. It really doesn't make much difference, but does anyone know for sure?

Hi Darvin, yes it was ROCKY CAPLES that wrote "SAWED OFF SHOTGUN" it was on "The Pridesman" album recorded in 1975 on RCA.
Gene O'Neal Produced this LP and played on it, but Rocky wrote the song.
I hope this helps??? Take care. RED. |

That's right, I caught that error too! Rocky wrote "Sawed-OFF Shotgun"...back in the mid '60s, as I recall. His cousin, Dayna Wills, posts here occasionally, and could probably tell us for sure. Rocky recorded the song in the early '70s, and had a minor hit with it. |

I always thought it was one of Frank Arnett's tunes. I know he had a pretty good 45rpm record of it....JH

Ronnie, I really wasn't sure. You did a great set at ISGC. I hadn't heard this song for several years, thanks for playing it.
