Well guys, i just wanted to spread the news. I've been playing about two years now.In my living room that is. And it's taken me two years to turn off the CD player, and finally get down to buisness. Don't get me wrong, I love playing along with all the different Steel and country cd's that i have, but i wasn't learning near as much as i should have on my guitar.I could play along and do alot of the licks and runs, intros and endings, and thought i was really doing something. But the fact remained, that i could not play not even one song as an instrumental.
Finally ,i got down to buisness a month or so ago and learned two songs. (Amazing Grace),and my favorite,(Danny Boy).I know there are a lot of accomplished players out there that might think Big Deal !!!!! but to me ,it was a giant stepping stone learning my steel. Everything is starting to make alot more sense, and i'm finding out that some of the other songs are coming easier.I'm glad i finally turned off the CD's and started to find out just what beautiful sounds i can get out of my guitar.Everybody on the forum has been great. I've met some of you already at a couple of the shows. Looking forward to meeting more of you.If any of you have any suggestions on how to improve my practicing techniques,i'm open for anything.
Keep Steelin,

Gary,
Find yourself a group of backporch pickers and you will be surprised at how much faster you will advance, this will speed up the learning curve on backup and instrumentals.Hang in,you'll get it!!!!!!
