What was Curley Chalker playing in the early 50's with Lefty Frizzell.
I just heard Always Late (with your kisses)
Nice cut, Hawaiian jazzy steel.

Curley did several cuts from june '51 onward on this CD,
and I know there's someone here who remembers this all when it was fresh and youze was wonderin' ; how the heck he do that?

I'm not an expert on the Lefty sides, but a friend of mine once played me a radio cut of Lefty's rendition of "Ida Red Likes To Boogie". Curley's solo shot the whole song thru' the ceiling. More rare, early Chalker radio stuff can be heard on Hank Thompson's Country Routes album, especially "Sixty Minute Man" is memorable!
And if you meant what kind of guitar he was playing, it was a blonde Fender Dual 8 ( or Custom Triple ) teamed up with a tv-front Fender Pro and a Bigsby vol/tone pedal.

Thanks Jussi.
Seem there was more to be said about Hank Snow, then Lefty.

I am amazed no one has any great Lefty Frizzel anecdotes.
With the exception of Jussi.

Especially after all the good Hank Snow ones.
The steel playing was really fine too. Curly later, but others earlier.

Jimmy Curtis, Jimmy Kelley, Charlie White, George McCoy, Paul Blunt, Dale Gilly, Pete Drake, and Don Helms; All playing steel.

And I had never heard Curly Chalker on Dobro before.
