There ia a guy in Kinston, N.C., probably
unknown to most of you guys, his name is Clyde Mattocks, who is absolutely nothing
short of awesome. He is as good as anybody I have ever heard.I'm talking tone, licks, smoothness, knowledge of the instrument, and as fine a guy as you will ever meet.Anybody who has ever heard him will agree.I've never seen his name mention on here except by me.There has to be someone here who has heard him,if so,please make a comment. It seems the best musicians are the nicest people, they are secure with their ability. If you ever get a chance to hear this guy,by all means do so,I promise you,you won"t be disappointed.

I have to agree with Terry 100%. Clyde is as good as it gets, and a nicer guy you will never meet. I am proud to be called, his friend. And Terry Williams is no slouch either, when it comes to being a lead guitarist, singer and general all around musician. I am a fan and friend of both these gentlemen.

You guys missed it !! I have made several posts and comments about Clyde especially when someone has asked about Cherokee Steel Guitars. And yes, he is one of the top echelon of players ! We knew each other when I was learning steel guitar on Channel 5, Raleigh NC's Daybreak show. I think nowadays, considering how good he was back then, there's just no telling where he's at now. I did hear he had been to Nashville and cut some sessions but don't know anything more than that. Catch him at a show and talk to him; he'll tell you. There isn't a nicer person in the world !!
Regards, Paul |
