I'll be in Sacramento Aug. 9-17th and wonder who I ought to hear while there. I'm planning side trips to Tahoe and maybe SF or the wine country. Gotta be some great music out there, eh?

I'm at the Farmers Market in Sebastopol the morning of the 10th (10 AM - noon), and at Ledson Winery in Kenwood the afternoon of the 17th (noon - 4 PM). Both gigs are with my regular band, Open Hearts, and both are free.

On August 16 I'm at the Fillmore in San Francisco CA with the Mother Truckers and we're opening for Robert Earl Keen who has an excellant steel player in his band. I think his name is Marty Muse. He plays a D-10 Emmons through a Twin.

Check out the Hicks with Sticks web site for more country, alt.country, rockabilly and psychobilly events during that time.
I'll be playing at the Odeon Bar in San Francisco on Thursday between 7:00 and 9:30 pm with my band Go Van Gogh. It's not country, but it's fun.

Wow, guys, lots of choices.
Dave Z. I'll try to make the Fillmore in SF. I didn't know it was still around. I was there in 1968! We saw Steppenwolf, ha, (almost forgot who I saw!)
I know Marty Muse and it would be cool to see him again. He's known around here as the hardest working steel player in show business, (Austin-based player that is). --JR |
