Hi all,

I have moved - AGAIN - to Wilmington. Hopefully this will be it for a while.

I went up to Wally's Sales and Service in Hamburg yesterday, and met him and Wally Wallett.

I am hoping to find other steelers in the Wilmington, DE area within 30 - 60 minutes from here.... or for that matter any band playing with or looking for a steel player.

I have found the pocket of blues players here, but they don't 'get it' about steel.

Thanks.

Hey Bill,
I'm just a few miles north of the Philly line. Under an hour from you.
Give a holler.

I'm pretty sure that a steeler named Boo Miller is near DE. Maybe his real first name is Al? I'm not sure, I just know he's a pretty darn good picker.

Boo put on a great Maryland steel jam a few months ago. Do a search for that and you will get the names of a bunch of great steel pickers who went to it. I think there is more country and steel stuff happening in Maryland than in SE Pennsylvania. But myself, I'm not above driving down to Wilmington to hear good steel if you get a gig.

Bill I'll be playing quite a bit in Atlantic City this summer. If you get the urge to make a donation to the poor troubled casinos or if you just want to listen let me know. It's a bit of a ride from Wilmington but the guitar player, Joe Dalton, is up there with Steve Wariner, Vince Gill and those other semi-talented guys. I just go to listen to him and they even pay me for it.

Kenny Jones Band has been inviting me back... and another 330 Hemi..retro americana... The bass player with Kenny Jones know a lot of country players and I hope to find out more...

Bob,

WHEN - like what day... are you playing?

Chris,

WHERE in OLNEY

thanks to all of your for your replies... I will do my best to start getting around!

Bill,
I'll be playing the same day.. I think the lineup is Late Night Rodeo up first ( because they have to get out fast to make their gig later that night at Prospectors) with Ben on steel... My band "After the Reign"..is up second at around 2:30 PM.. And Bullszeye closes out the day (no steel here ...but a kick ass band nonetheless..
..
Do yourself a favor and try and make it to hear Buddy Charleton in Olney.. Your guaranteed to meet some excellent local pickers at the show ..and also catch Buddy up close... I wish I could make it.

Hello Bill: I'm over in Maryland..probably a couple of hours away from you. But if you're someone who frequents the moose lodges, I wI (along with the group I work with known as "The Jones Boys: (not the band that backs George) wil be at the New Castle Moose Lodge in June; I believe the date is June 22..not sure of the time. If I do say so myself, I think that we've got a pretty good little country band, where I've been handling the steel and lead guitar chores for over eleven years. To Boo..sorry to hear that you've moved from my area! Whenever you get settled, give me a holler; need to ask you about possibley getting some tapes of that steel jam. Best of luck to ya..and Bill..hope you are able to meet some good pickers and hear some good music.

The Hedger House thing is on Sat. JUNE 14.
Bob I'm not sure if I'll be there because we have an early night at Ballys 6 to 10. If I'm not there Doug usually has Jimmy Heffernan on steel and he's a whole lot better than me but I'm better looking.
