I know. That AARP subscription was a "wake up". Now I can get senior discounts at the goodwill stores too..
When do the retirement checks start coming in?
I'm gonna be needing some gas money for the Panhead.

Eric, I can sympathize with you.....there's something about the 50th birthday that's different!
The only worse birthday for me was my 30th. I was convinced that after 30 my life as a musician was over. That night I dressed in my Beatles outfit with the 14 inch cuffs and the four-button coat, combed my hair over my ears, and started to the club to work. On the way I stopped at the liquor-store for something to ease the pain of being so old....and the clerk "CARDED" me! That made my day and convinced me that I could pretend to be young a little longer. I didn't even open the bottle.
On my 50th birthday I felt so old and used-up that I went out and bought my "LAST" Harley before I faded into the sunset. In the 20 years since, I've bought three more "LAST" Harleys, and now past 70, I'm thinking about buying one more "LAST" Harley.....and maybe another "LAST" Steel!
I know that life (or the quality of life) has to end someday, but in the meantime it just keeps getting sweeter and sweeter!

Gene. I found my 30 to be my worst Bday. I was beat to hell, only four years into a break from a world class drunk which I luckily pulled off without hurting anybody but myself. After 34, I started getting younger.
40 was a middle of my 100 hour weeks, and all I did was work. Music was work. My house got bought, and I didn't die doing it. That's all I cared about.
At Fifty, the thing I like the most is being able to SAY that I'm fifty. Especially to people I know are 10 years younger and look older. The icing on the cake is that for some stupid reason, I'm no longer "invisible" to good looking younger women. It's probably a "self esteem" issue with them... I'm not looking a gift horse in the mouth.
I'm only ten years older than my bike, and wouldn't consider women that are that old in my "dating pool".
All is Vanity, I guess.
I'm trying to find out how much money changed hands over me actually making it.
The bike's been rebuilt three times that I've found out about.
Me? just a few stitches here and there.
Now it's time to use what's left of my good looks to get into a good "career".
I'm wonder if MacDonalds is hiring..

Oh and Steve. I had the old "exam" some years ago, but it was really strange.
The doc told me that I might feel some "discomfort". I did, and he asked me if there was any pain.
It was then that I realised that both of his hands were on my shoulders....

You know, you REALLY shouldn't have to be reminded of so much history, since you lived during most of it(so far!). But Lee surrendered in a TOWN called "Appomatox Court House," NOT just Appomatox.
And the photo must have been taken REAL quickly, since neither the scooter nor you have oil puddles underneath.

The surrender of General Joseph E. Johnston's Confederate Army to Union General William T. Sherman at the Bennett homestead on April 26, 1865, was the second and last major stage in the peace-making process that ended the Civil War. General Robert E. Lee's surrender at Appomat*t*ox Courthouse 17 days earlier was the first. By far, Johnston surrendered the largest share of the Confederate troops still in the field at war's end, more than Lee and the others combined.
(Actually General Johnston had enough admiration for "Mr Bill" that he caught cold when he would't keep his hat on during WTS's funeral, and died.)

I know my knees feel 70 sometimes, and I know more usless infomation and dirt on local politicos than people in their 80s...

Well I went out and gave Mary Lou, the big tall blonde I was sitting with, a dump truck driving lesson today, and I think it took a few years off.. I know I got a couple more grey hairs..
Actually eating bugs while bike riding is good for a person as long as they arent' the "tumble bug" type.
Like Ricardo Montalban once said,
"I'd rather look good than feel good".
You looked really good. Are you dieting? working out? jogging?, get a new haircut?
suit? or is it......?
