Sleepwalk" sound clip...

Post by Terry VunCannon »

Here is a live sound clip of the duo "2Can" with Steve Cain on keys & drum machine & myself on lap steel doing "Sleepwalk" at a sound check before a show.
Sleepwalk

Thanks to my good friend "The Gentle Viking" Steinar Gregertsen for helping me post this sound clip...
[This message was edited by Terry VunCannon on 13 January 2005 at 03:31 PM.]

Terry, are you playing this in the open-E tuning you usually play in? Also, I don't quite recognize the sound of a National Dynamic,- are you using the Harmos on this one?
Nice work! Image

Yes Steiner...I did play this in E...some of the other tunes on the song list need that tuning so I try to play Sleepwalk that way so I won't have to retune or carry a 2nd lap. That is the black/white 1949 National.

There IS a line in the lyrics "What am I to Do?" I often find that these words are missed by the players.. WHY ?

Very Nice!!!Great job nailing the ending.Whew!!
How did you get this to download so fast? With my dial-up I usually can't stand the wait. Was this run through a compressor or data limiter of some sort.

Great job! I'm still working on getting the whole tune down and this helps a lot.

One of my favorite instrumentals... and the tone you got is one of my very favorites, can you tell me more about the gear? I like the sound of that National.

This has always been one of my favorite steel guitar tunes and your version is excellent. I too like the tone you get out of your guitar/amp setup. Very nice, thank you. Bill

Thanks guys for the nice comments. You are so kind. First off, I play with my thumb, index, & middle fingers, no picks. I change from guitar to lap & don't have time to stop & put on finger picks. It feels very natural to me this way, easier to mute.
The National Dynamic is a Black & White 1949 with the screw on connector, & a big cover plate on the pickup that makes it look like a huge Humbucker. It was run through a Fender Blues JR(15 watts)with just a touch of reverb.
